Jungkook, Liam, and I have been best friends for as long as I can remember. Liam and I have been in the same school since kindergarten, while Jungkook, despite being just two years older than us, lived next door, making him an inseparable part of our little trio. We all practically attended the same schools over the years, though Jungkook was always the senior, a few steps ahead of us. As the youngest, just eight months younger than Liam, I've always been the little one in the group, though they've always had my back —

Right now, I'm on my way to Liam's house. He's been dating this girl for a year — a fellow classmate of ours — and it all seemed fine until the night at the frat party. He caught her in a lie. She told him she was at her place with friends, but then he saw her kissing another guy on the cheek. It might seem like a small thing, but the guy she was kissing is Liam's enemy at university, so this is a huge deal. Knowing she shouldn't be doing this, Liam's decided to talk it out with her. Since Jungkook is busy today, I'm the one going as backup, just in case things don't go well. I heard he'll be back home in twenty minutes after talking to her, so I'm quickly getting ready. I've already picked out an outfit and am about to drive over to his place, prepared to have his back no matter what.

I slipped on an oversized light blue sweatshirt and white shorts — the go-to outfit for today. Living with the guys has made me so lazy about dressing up; I always end up in sweats or tees. My mom complains that I don't wear dresses or anything more put-together, but honestly, I just can't be bothered. I get in the car and drive over to Liam's place. He lives with his mom, who owns a little restaurant nearby. They're not exactly rich, but they're not poor either. His home is cozy and comfortable, just like everything about him.

I reached Liam's house and was greeted warmly by his affectionate mother. We exchanged some light chit-chat while she served us coffee, and we had a pleasant conversation. But then the door opened, and Liam walked in, looking exhausted. His mom called out to him, but he just went upstairs to his room. I gave her a reassuring pat on the shoulder, telling her I'd handle it before rushing up after him.

The door was slightly ajar, and I sighed before peeking inside. Liam was aggressively tossing his jacket and watch aside, frustration written all over him. I sighed again, knocked gently, and entered. He glanced at me but didn't say anything. I sat down on the bed, waiting for him to calm down. He ignored me for a moment, picked out some clothes, and went to take a shower. When he came back, he sat down beside me, his hands covering his face in defeat. I slowly patted his shoulder, and when he looked up at me, that was my cue. I hugged him, and he hugged me back, holding me for a few minutes before we fell back on the bed, still holding each other.
