Departing

  After we finish our food, L  directs us both to Matsuoka. Matsuoka took us to the limousine. L is sitting so close, yet so far away.

" Annie, do you wish to see the suspect list that I've come up with?" he asks coming even closer

" I was surprised you didn't enlist me as one, I thought if you were a witness, there's a chance you would be the colpret" I say

" Annie, you are fast at answering questions" he says fascinated

" I've always been looking into your work, I play along and try to find the criminals with you, I'm always right" I reply

" Annie?" he asks

" Yes L" I answer

" How would you like to join me in this investigation?" he asks

  I'm shocked once again, he keeps on surprising me. I've always admired him, this could help my entire career!

" If you don't wish to join me, I have no reason to show you the suspect list" he says

" No need, of course I'll join you L, I admire you!" I say happily

  I give him a tight hug, he seems like he doesn't know how to hug someone. Like he's never used to it

" Annie?" he says

" Sorry, I didn't know..."

" I didn't know we were friends" he interrupts me

" Of couse, team mates are friends. And if I'm going to join you in the investigation, we should be" I smile, he smiles back

*investigation centre

" Okay Annie, I would like your opinion on these suspects. These were people who were in the store justbefore the man entered" he says

" Jacky? She's the victim, surely she can't, I saw her do nothing put put money in the bag" I disagree

" You mean you don't think she turned the gun around at him?" he asks

" No, I was there L, you have to trust me" I say

" Anyone else you disagree with?" he asks

  I have to keep an open mind, if I don't give him anyone to focus on, he'll jump his conclusions straight to me and I'll be caught! I can't let this happen, he's messing with me.

" No, I think these are pretty good suspects. Their records look good" I say

" Thankyou annie, I'm glad you went to the same conclusion as I did. Jacky was a joke, I was testing you" he says

  Testing me? What's he on? I thought he trusted me. Or is he just agreeing with everything I say?

L POV;

  I'm glad she's not aware that this isn't the real list. I only have one suspect on mine.

" Annie, I think you should meet the team that works with me" I say

" But I thought you work solo?" she implies

" Yes I do, only this team works here. I flew from LA" I reply

" I've never been there before" she says

" Maybe since we're a team, you could fly back with me" I say to impress her

" Really? I don't need it, I'm not the grestest detective" she says

" You're probably at the same standard as me, and as you know, I'm the worlds best detective" I say

  She smiles and blood rushes through her cheecks

" Stop being so cocky!" she laughs

" Let's take a breake shall we" I say

  We both walk into the my room where I'm staying while in Tokyo

" Wow, this room is as big as my whole house!" she stutters

" It's getting dark, I better head home, if I knew the way" she laughs

" No Annie, you don't have to leave now. Text your mom, you're staying in my spare room" I demand

" Aw L, thankyou. I've never stayed in a place like this before" she thanks

  The phone starts to ring, I pick it up quickly

" L, Near is coming to the investigation centre to meet Annie Havé. Apparently she's on his suspect list, he's trying to help you" a voice calls

" don't worry, Annie will be in my room the whole time he's here" I relieve him

" Who was that, and what have I got to do with it?" she asks concerned

" My successor Near, is coming here to help on the investigation. He just wants to meet you" I say

" Is he better than you?" she asks cheekily

" He learnt everything he knows from me" I say and walk off to the bathroom

  Annie stands there all alone, wondering why I'm being so nice to her. I can't tell her that Near is on to her, he could take this investigation into a whole new level

" L" I hear an echo coming from outside the bathroom door, it's Annie

" I'm going to take a call" she says

" Okay, I'll be out in just a second" I answer her

  I quickly open the door in precisely 1 second and to see that she is taking an american number phone call. Could it be Near? Or some of my other successors?

  I can hear a young voice coming from the speaker of her phone. Her hand twitching as she's answering the call. I don't hear very much, but it's all quiet, so I can hear just as much as I need to.

" Is this Annie Havé?" the voice asks

" Yes this is she. Can I help you?" she asks politely

" I just heard that you will be joining on the investigation of the killings in Japan starting. L asked you to join, didn't he?" the voice sounds curious with a little hint of answers coming out of Annie's mouth

" He did, and you are?" she asks whilst walking around the room twiddling her hair

" I'm one of his successors. I'm surprised he just asked you in the middle of no where, it's not like him. Would you like to fly to LA with L to investigate in the main departments?" the voice says

  I follow through the hidden depth voice, it has to be Near. He's interested in why I asked her to join us all of the sudden. I just hope I can keep her away from him.

" Yes, I think L would come. If not, I can always help on my own. I too don't understand why he chose me to help him. He didn't test me, see my past records or anything. L confuses me" she glances outside the window into the beautiful city sights of Japan

" Well then, we can always test you ourselves if you are confused by the way L does things. We can even send you a privately jet tomorrow. L can stay to work independently" he says

  My eyes are full of anger. Near is my successor, not my enemy! Why would he want to investigate her, I completely understand why but shouldn't Near trust me?

  Annie ends the call quickly, and glances back at the window to think a little

" I need to go home L" she says still staring outside

" Yes I understand. Matsuoka will send us to your home and I will say goodnight to you there" I say with heartbroken eyes, only no one can see them.

"  near, kinda cute, don't cha think?" she says excitedly whilst skipping outside the room

  I walk towards the window to see Matauoka all ready, and Annie so happy. Her cheery eyes and excited vibes only draw my attention more, because her differences are completely opposite to mine, or the same?
