Suspicion

Annie Pov;

  I walk towards the platform to see a boy about my age, with white silky hair and wearing quite raggy clothes just like L. He must be his best successor. I've heard so much about his successors, there are about 3 of them. I've heard of 1, Near. Maybe this white haired poor looking boy is Near?

" Good morning, Annie. We have selected a private high quality hotel for all of us to spend our short time together," he greets me with his general complex smile

" I'm glad you could help us with this project. L prefers to work alone, he only asked you to join him, so he could investigate you and your actions. But our team, we don't suspect you. We have checked back on your records, they seem pretty clean. A straight A student until your last year. Why is that?" he seems concern while trusting every word I say

" I'm eager to start working in college is all" I reply to him, feeling trusted and unsuspected

" Would you like to follow me to our transpotation to our destination?" he details

" Yes, thankyou" I answer without grief having to drag me down

L seems harmless, I never would have thought of him suspecting me. I trust him dearly. He invited me to dinner and gave me so many opportunities to take.
I don't understand why Near would say these kind of things about him. Is he two faced?

Near steps on the stairs to the jet slowly while the wind follows through his hair. He gently grabs my hand to help me up. Finally, we're in the jet. I can see him straight go on his phone to check his many text messages. 45 messages in the past 30 minutes, wow, popular boy. I feel like I would trust him if I asked him questions, but I'm not sure if he will have the courage to answer me.

" How old are you again?" I ask as I see him scrolling through documents

" Coming 18 in a month" he answers whilst still scrolling

" I'm becoming 18 in a few months, I guess you're older then" I say trying to amuse him but doesn't seem to be working

" How close are you and L" I ask
as I can hear him sighing boringly

" I'm L's best successor. We're very close" he instantly replies without thinking

" Hey, I have a question" he interigates me whilst coming closer to me

" Does L do this?" he asks

He comes closer to my face so I can hear him breathing slightly. We both laugh, as L does do that a lot. I can see him all cheery now. Near looks better than before, all happy, not depressed.

" How did you meet L?" he asks trying to stop and control his laughing

" We met when I was answering questions at the police department. He though I had good suggestions and could answer truthfully and fast enough" I answer him trying to hide away my giggles from before

" So, he just took you for dinner?" he seems to ask a lot of questions

" Yes, I'm glad I got to know a little bit more about his work there, he's so fascinating" I say

" You know much of his previous works. Do you watch him on TV?"

" All the time. I'm very interested in these kind of things. I'm ever so lucky to be working with him" I say excitedly

" Well I'm glad you have an interest, it's not very uncommon for crimes to be commited now. That's why we only have the people that are ready to tackle a case immediately" he explains quitely

After a while of discussion, we arrive in the city of Los Angelies. My favourite city in the world!

A man who seems just as fancy as Matsuoka, takes my hand and helps me down to the ground after soft landing. Near and I walk towards a black bullet proof glassed car. Near opens the door for me. I climb my way through to see a desk with a laptop on it. Near jumps into the other seat that's ever so close to mine.

" Annie, we are just going to the hotel now. All the luggage has already arrived there" he says

" Thankyou Near" I thank him without thinking

" Your room is next door to mine. We all have our own lounge, bathroom, bedroom, ensuite and an office room to work in" he explains to me

" Wow, it seems so fancy" I suggest with him smirking just like L

What is up with him? Why is he being so nice to me? I'll soon find out
