"So, what are your plans for the summer?"

"Nothing," I say, "You?"

"I might head over to the lake with Jackson to camp out."

"The lake?"

"It's a couple miles from here," Grant says, pushing his hair away from his face, "Wanna come?"

I laugh at that, "Nice try, but that's not happening."

"Why not?"

"You need your quality time with Jackson, obviously."

"You make it sound like we need couple counseling," Grant sticks out his tongue, "which we don't. Our relationship is superb."

"I know," I smile, "He's your best friend."

"Hey, you're my best friend, too," Grant bumps his hip against mine, "Don't you dare forget that, Venice Grace Waters."

"Of course, Grant Dennis Victor," I flash my leather bracelet, something I rarely take off, "Forever and ever."

He twists his bracelet, "Forever and ever."
