Off we went on a ferry ride to Domsö, Doms Island in English.
It's only been a few weeks after the first day of high school, obviously, the teachers wanted all the freshmen in the class to get to know each other more. As well as do some fun activities before all the studying and tests would begin. So Domsö island was chosen to be our destination for the trip.
During the ferry ride, I zoned out from time to time as Zack and I listened to music. During that period, Zack mentioned something about how the island was actually a home for the supernatural just so that he could mock me for liking ghosts and the supernatural. He's annoying but that's one of the reasons why I like him. He could be unpredictable, funny and can also tease a lot but that's what best friends do, I'm guilty enough to admit that I teased him too.
For a short while, Zack and I were at peace as we listen to music. The ambient sounds of the chill step music never seemed to bore me. Having nothing to do while Zack snored and lied on my shoulder, I pulled out the book I bought from the bookstore and began reading. Even as an average to slow reader, the book was thrilling, dark and entertaining.
A chill swiftly flew down my spine while I was reading, Zack woke up at the same moment. I had this eerie feeling, although it went away quickly when we arrived to shore. I got up confused and flailed a little to get this feeling off my chest. Looking over at Zack, he was wide awake, his eyes were completely open. I didn't even hear a yawn. He seemed to be a little dazed.
Smirking, I slapped Zack's right cheek and shouted for him to stop daydreaming. He flinched and backed away, holding his cheek. I could see in his eyes that he was back from his zone and was confused. I laughed immensely at his confused expression. Zack chuckled a little too then tried to slap me back.
"Dude, stop trying. You won't be able to get payback after what I did, well at least not now."
Zack grinded his teeth together, then backs away with a chuckle, speaking out of vengeance.
"I shall get you for that, in the future! Mark my words."
"Yeah Yeah, let's go. We're at shore now."
Zack lifted up his bag and started walking towards the gate alongside me. Looking over to him, I realize something different.
"Hey Zack, You just cut your hair, didn't you?"
Zack replied with a cunning smirk, "aha! Yes! Now you can never tease me for looking like a depressing emo."
"Hey! I never said that you look like a depressing emo. I was complimenting you for looking cool."
"Dude, you know I don't like emos, right?"
"Well, I thought it looked good on you and seriously, you still haven't told me why you even dislike emos."
"Well..."
Zack paused, thinking hard before replying. "Well, they just give off a bad vibe towards me. I don't know why."
I chuckled, "I hope you never change, Zack."
Stepping foot on the concrete ground. We had begun our trip on Doms island. We were first split up into multiple groups lead by various ambassadors and teachers then we began heading off to separate parts of the island to do different activities.
Zack and I, as usual, were placed in the same group and we headed off to the southern side of the island where there are often forests all around the area. We reached the upper hills, to see a beautiful view. The teacher pulls out some Hologram tablets and hands them over to each pair, including us.
He then spoke, "Alright everyone, we are going to have orienteering. Each one of you will need to find these stations around the forest. If you ever get lost, remember that you can use the Holo-Watch for GPS and find your way back here. You can work in multiple groups of pairs or just individual pairs. You may go at your own pace but remember to always have fun, good luck!"
Orienteering is a highly common sport often done in Sweden where an individual or a group of individuals are given a map of a certain area to participate in as well as a compass and a USB data collector. In the map, there are stations located in the area that you need to find and plug in your USB to collect the data, the person or group that can find all the stations and record the data the fastest wins. It's a sport that tests your skills in navigation and perception as you need to be good at looking for hidden stations in the forest and not getting lost in the process.
Zack and I grinned towards each other, we grab ourselves a tablet, compass, and USB before heading down the hill and into the forest before anyone else could. It was a chance for us to strengthen our ability to cooperate as a team.

Back then, I didn't know I was being watched.
There were two figures who observed from afar as we both went off to race for the stations. One of the figures was masculine while the other was feminine. They were invisible to the naked eye, like ghosts of the wind, they spectated as one spoke to the other.
It's about to begin soon, isn't it? The awakening, the masculine figure asked.
Indeed, a powerful storm is brewing, I am looking forward to what this storm might bring with it, she replied.
We'll just have to wait and see...
