New Message from @maelynn

Mae: pls stop blaming yourself

Luke's puffy eyes slowly adjusted to the intense brightness of his screen, and as they skimmed over Mae's name, he nearly fell out of bed. She messaged him for the first time in a week.

To go seven days straight without talking to her has been pretty devastating. Although it seems pathetic to admit, he couldn't care less.

His fingers fumbled as he typed a reply.

Luke: but i'm to blame, so therefore it only makes sense

Mae: well, i'm telling you to stop

Luke: i hurt you, mae -- that i know and it's hard for me to live with

Luke: i basically told him to break you

Mae: you didn't know what you were saying

Luke: yes i did

Mae: stop, you're only making this harder

Luke wanted nothing more than to talk to her, and yet all he's managing to do is screw it up. However, no matter how hard he tried to resist from typing negative things, he couldn't stop.

He was to blame. It was his idea to tell his friend to find a girl and break her.

He was to blame. The others advised against it, but Luke insisted.

He was in a bad place at the time. He was tired of his friend sulking, so he came up with the first thing to enter his mind. He was young, immature, and downright idiotic, but he was to blame.

The four words repeated in his mind constantly as he stared at his phone.

Luke: you were taken advantage of, mae, and the only person at fault is me

Luke: that's something i have to live with

Mae: luke, i'm begging you pls stop

Mae: i'm sorry i shouldn't have taken it out on you

Mae: it wasn't your fault, okay? it was his, and only his

Mae: luke?

Mae: are you still there?

suspense is building oh dear
