Your Surprise

“It’s Showtime!” Flyzik yelled pointing at the guys who were already on stage behind a curtain. I watched the show from side stage and every once in awhile Alex would look at me and smile. In the middle of the set list it was time for Alex’s acoustic performances, he usually played Therapy and Remembering Sunday, but today he made announcement to the crowd,

“Hey guys, tonight I’m going to switch it up a bit and change-up the set list. I’ve got a new song that I recently wrote and I want you guys to hear it first, you cool with that?”

The crowd erupted with screams,

“I’ll take that as a yes then!”, then he started strumming chords on his guitar,

“I gotta say something that I've been thinking about, I can't wait to lay around with you, and tell you all the secrets I've been keeping to myself. It's been a while since I've felt butterflies; do you feel the same way too? If every single second could last that much longer, would you hold me... and kiss me again?” He sang, then belted out the chorus,

“Underneath the moonlight, you're more than a friend, oh... I knew it from the first time, Yeah... Hold me, feel my heart beat, Put your arms around me and kiss me again!” 

“Oh kiss me again...” He finished looking out to the crowd who were screaming even louder than before. He continued on to play Therapy, then the guys joined him back on stage to finish the set.

After the show Alex ran off stage over to me,

“Did you like your surprise?” he asked, dripping with sweat,

“Di-did you write that song about us?” I asked, feeling my heart pound in my chest,

“Yeah, I’ve been working on it for a while, and I thought tonight would be the best night to share it with the world and most importantly you.” He shrugged then pulled me into a tight hug,

“Ew you’re so sweaty.” I complained, as we pulled apart,

“The joys of being a rock star my dear.” He said in a slight British accent, bowing and gesturing his hands signalling that we should head back to the bus.

On the bus the guys took turns showering before we went out for dinner,

“So you two gonna actually join us tonight?” Rian asked,

“If we have to.” I sighed sarcastically, Rian just punched me in the shoulder and gave me a smile, blinding me with his teeth in the process. We decided to eat at a Chinese restaurant called “Ming Lin’s” that was only down the road, we got sat at a large round table at the back of the restaurant; I sat in between Jack and Zack with Alex opposite me in between Jeff and Evan. We tried to make as little eye contact as possible; we didn’t want to make our relationship too obvious yet. During dinner Zack pulled out his phone with a smile,

“Alison?” I whispered looking down at his phone,

“Yeah, she’s studying art at uni.” He said, damn this boy was in love,

“Invite her to a show.” I mentioned quietly,

“Why?” he asked, seriously, you know nothing of impressing a lady,

“Because she’ll see you perform and it’s a chance to hang out idiot!”

“Oh yeah, what would I do without you Em?”

“Probably be forever alone I bet.” I laughed as he gave me hug then texting Alison inviting her to tomorrows show. I watched as she texted back,

“Oh my god really! I’d love that! X” I could already tell she was a keeper.

After a few hours we all headed back to the bus, all full of delicious Chinese food, we all collapsed onto the couch flicking on the TV. One by one everyone headed to their bunks, leaving Alex and I alone in the lounge,

“So the lyrics of that song, were they all true?” I asked breaking the silence,

“Oh course, why you ask?” He answered looking a little puzzled,

“It’s just- I never knew you felt that way…”

“I didn’t know you did either, but hey that doesn’t matter. Better late then never.”

“Yeah, I love you Alex.” I said softly giving him a hug,

“I love you too Em,” he said in reply hugging me back, “we should probably get some sleep, night gorgeous.” He added kissing me on the forehead then walking in the bunk area. I sat in the lounge for a couple more minutes, with a smile plastered to my face, I let out a sigh then got up heading into my bunk and drawing the curtain shut.
