~Seventeen~

•Ash's POV•

I woke up late this morning which I found weird as Khy being an early riser normally wakes me when the tv gets turned on.

I got up off the sofa and went upstairs to check on her. I looked in and she was still, her eyes closed and looked like she was sleeping deeply. I decided to go in and sit with her.

I went to stroke her hair but retracted my hand quickly when my hand brushed against her skin, it was so cold.  I panicked and then saw the empty pill packet and the glass of water. "Shit Khy!" I yell in a sudden outburst as I take her hand and feel her wrist for a pulse, I can't find one so I try her neck, nothing...

"Fuck! Fuck! ... Erm... What do I do?" I mutter to myself. I immediately phone Calum coz I wasn't sure if Mikey would pick up but I knew Calum would.

"Hey Ash" came Cal's voice.

"Cal... Is Mikey there?"

"Yeah, everything o.."

"Just put Mikey on"

"Okay"

I waited while I heard the phone being passed over.

"Ash, everything alright?"

I was trying so hard to compose myself. I was in shock from what I just found, I couldn't even cry right now, I was just in shock.

"N..n..no... It's not alright Mikey..."

"What's wrong? You sound distressed. Is it Khy?"

"Yea it's Khy..." I bite my lip knowing what I'm gonna have to tell him in a min.

"What's happened? Is she okay?"

"Mikey, you might want to sit down okay?"

"Okay. Sitting down. What the fuck is going on Ash?"

"Khy, she's dead... I found her... I think she overdosed on pain killers..." I finally let the tears slip out. I hear a sob at the other end of the phone.

"What do you mean? She can't...no! No!"

I hear Cal asking questions in the background but Mikey is really crying hysterically now and not making any sense.

"Mikey put me on to Cal"

He does as I say and Cal comes back on.

"What's happened Ash?"

I swallow the lump in my throat. "Khy took an overdose Cal..."

"Is she...?"

"Yes, she's gone. I'm sorry Cal... I don't know what to do"

Mikey came back on to the phone.

"Ash, we'll get the first flight home and be there in a few hours. Just, erm hold on, we'll be there"

"Okay" I sob. "See you later"

"Yea, erm bye".

When I hung up I crawled into a ball on Khy's bedroom floor and cried.

Later I heard voices downstairs, I knew it was Cal and Mikey. I picked myself off the floor and went down to see them.

Mikey's eyes were red and swollen, Cal looked like he didn't really understand what had happened properly. The two of them came to me in a group hug.

"Is she in her bed?" Mikey asked through his tears that had just started to fall again. I nod.

Mikey leads the way up to her room, I go behind and Cal last. Mikey opens her bedroom door "Oh my god" Mikey exclaims as he walks in, he buries his face in my shoulder and begins to soak my shirt.

Cal has tears rolling down his face too. I've done my fair share of crying so I'm trying to be strong for them.

When Mikey composes himself he goes over to Khy and takes her hand "I did love you. I'm sorry I went, you deserved  better than me. You deserved Luke, maybe you can be together now? I hope you're happy wherever you are because you deserve all the happiness in the Universe. I love you Khy" he placed a kiss on her forehead.

Cal pointed at some paper on the table "look, there's three. One for each of us" he says.

I pick up the one with my name on.

"Dear Ash,

Thank you for being there for me when I had nobody else. We've all been through so much since Luke and I just want you to know I appreciated you being there for me.

I've decided to go not because of any reason apart from I would be happier that way. Don't be sad that I've gone, I will be watching you every day and I'll be happy.

Khy x"

I wiped away the tears that filled my eyes. And watched as Cal opened his letter.

"Dear Calum,

I know this has probably effected you but please don't be sad CalPal. You're the loveliest, innocent, caring person I could ever have met and I feel proud to call you one of my best friends. I'm not gone really, I'll always be in your thoughts and in your heart.

Khy x"

I watched as the tears became heavier on Cal's face. I offered him a hug which he accepted. "It'll be okay" I told him.

The last one of us to read the letter was Mikey.

"Dear Mikey,

I want you to know that this is not your fault and I have forgiven you for leaving me, so please don't feel bad. You were the best best friend I could ever wish for, and a good boyfriend for the time we had. I'm sorry for doing this but I wanted to be happy, I figured out this would be the best way.

Bye Mikey, I loved you.

Khy x"

The boy dropped to his knees and sobbed. I picked him up and hugged him "come on, we should probably call an undertaker" I say trying to be sensible.

Later on we watch as the undertakers take our best friend away. "Bye Khy" I whisper as they drive off.

{A/N - I'll be posting the Epilogue at the same time as this chapter because I'm going away tomorrow and might not be able to get on Wattpad so much.
