School was a place I had mixed feelings about. It was a place where, at some points, if I'm doing good in a class, I'll like it and then there were other times where I'd be failing a class or just simply tired of all of the work, so I'd despise it. However, lately, I've been in love with this building. It could have been because everyone I love surrounded me everyday or because graduation was soon here. Either way, I still loved it.
Right at this moment, we were having a free period. Unfortunately, it was hard trying to find something to do. We stood around my locker, discussing what could possibly be done to kill time. That was until Zac made a little "aha!" sound with a grin. We all looked at him, waiting to hear what he had to say.
"Let's go up on the roof." He said.
My eyes widened. "What?!" I shrieked. "Are you trying to get all of our butts kicked out right before graduation?!"
"Aww, c'mon, sis. It's going to be fun." Zac threw his arm around my shoulder and messed up my hair. Lately, since his father and my mom have been in a steady and healthy relationship, he hardly ever calls me by my name anymore. Everything was "sis", and I would never admit to him how cute I thought it was and how use to it I had gotten.
"Yeah, babe. You should take more risks." Zero piped with a smirk, squeezing my hand gently.
I narrowed my eyes at him. "I'm going to have both of your heads on a platter if we get in trouble."
"We won't," Both of them said simultaneously.
"You two had better lead the way then, so if someone catches you in the process, we'll have time to run." Marcus joked, making us laugh shortly.
"Yeah, what he said." Cat motioned her hand in a way as to tell them "go". Zac glared playfully down at her.
"Aren't you suppose to be on my side?" His perfectly arched brow rose in question as he crossed his arm. Cat made her way beside him and smiled broadly up at him.
"See, I am on your side." She replied in a smart tone. She gasped and pointed at Zero. "Well, would ya look at that? So is Zero."
Everyone laughed as Zac wrapped his arm around her neck and pretended to headlock her. Their relationship was yet another healthy looking one and although they argued like chickens without heads sometimes, in the end, it all seemed to be worth it.
Unable to stop myself, I walked beside Zero and grabbed a hold of his hand. He immediately wrapped his fingers back around my own. That was one of the many things I loved about him. His responses with me were quick. It made me feel important.
Currently, we were in the janitor's closet. I'd learned that this was not the boys' first time doing this, hence the reason they know an escape to the roof was in here. They boosted us up, saying the process was faster. When I got up, my mouth flopped open. As long as I have been attending this school, I was obviously absolutely clueless to the beauty the rooftop possessed. It was like sitting on the torch of the Statue of Liberty and looking down. My breath was stuck in my throat.
