Hello, readers! I am sorry for the very delayed update. . I started a new book (surprise, surprise) and it's Teen Fiction. Maybe check it out? :) Hope you enjoy this update, even though it is a little small. -May

Rebecca chuckles, placing the sponge on the marble counter top. She turns to face me, a bright smile on her face.

"That sounds like Zeus. He's like his father, so you'll have to get used to the mood swings from him and yourself."

"What happened to your husband, Rebecca? Zeus won't mention him."

Rebecca's smile fades slightly, and her eyes look as if she's back in a pleasant memory. "My husband was a charmer. Always making the men laugh and women blush. But when duty called, there was no funny business. He cared for every single one of his pack members, making sure their needs were taken care and homes warm in the cold winters. He died from a Rogue attack."

My heart sinks. I imagine my own dad being gone, and a pain forms in my chest. "The photograph in the hall, he doesn't look so excited."

Rebecca smiles. "He never cared for photos. Despised them actually. Zeus reminds me so much of him. I just wish he wouldn't be so closed up. He wasn't like that until his father died."

A silence forms, and I ponder over the information I have learned. I haven't seen Zeus being a charismatic man, and imagining him being one makes me want to laugh. The only Zeus I have seen is the angry and apologetic one. Rebecca looks as if she misses and loves her husband dearly. I can tell by the way she speaks of him to me.

"How did you two meet?" I ask.

"Oh, that feels like forever ago, Aurora. He was traveling around lands with the Alpha, his father, and when he got to mine, everything clicked. We spent the short days with each other, learning every detail that we could. When his time had ended, he asked me to come with him. I didn't hesitate at all."

"You never missed your family and friends?" I ask in amazement.

Rebecca shakes her head, a small smile on his face. "I visited them during the holidays and often when the kids came, but having your mate by your side is something you can be content with."

I ignore the feeling of want in my chest, but it grows stronger with each passing second. The feeling of wanting the same thing Rebecca had.

"You had more than one child?"

"Correct," Rebecca opens the fridge and begins to sort through it. "Zeus was my first born, and I surprisingly didn't have any more until he was five years. Only two pups, though. Which is small compared the average amount of pups mates have."

"What's the average amount?"

"About five or six." She simply says, going back to washing pans.

My eyes bulge out. How could someone want- or handle -having that many children, all at once? If the average amount of children for wolves is five or six, then their pack must be larger than I imagined. Rebecca chuckles at my shocked expression.

"Don't you worry, Aurora. You'll know the reason why when your time comes."

"What is that supposed to mean?" I blurt out, eyebrows furrowing and lips pouting.

Rebecca doesn't respond and instead, turns on the water facuet and rinses off the bubbles before placing the cleaned pans on the marble counters to dry. I hope she'll answer me because everyone else isn't on the talkative side.

"One thing I will tell you, Aurora, is that nothing will be easy. You are going to get so frustrated with Zeus that you'll want to strangle the life out him. You'll cry, smile, laugh, and scream all in a span of one day because of him. And the protective feeling you'll get for your pack- dear, it will blow your mind. Just remember that if you turn your back now nothing will be the same. It's a wonderful experience and feeling, Aurora. It truly is."
