"Our flight leaves tomorrow, so we should be there Friday"
"Yay, I'm so excited to see my little niece. You know I'm having a nephew ?"
"Who Daya ? I knew her ass was riding di-"
"No Yasmine, Janae is having a baby. Her baby daddy is just a fuck boy though"
"Mines was too, I know the feeling"
"I think Prince has always been like that though"
"Who ?" Yasmine questioned looking at me through the FaceTime call
"Prince, her baby daddy" I said as my face wrinkled up "Why you look like that ?"
"Nothing" She shook her head "I'll call you back, I gotta put Tamia to sleep"
"Alright, tell her I love her"
"Will do"
I hung up and placed my phone on the charger. I don't why her ass acting like that, all weird and shit. I didn't have anything to do today since everyone was busy.
"Where's Gia ?" I got up from my bed
I walked out of my room and into the living room where she was on her iPad with the TV on.
"What you playing ?" I asked peeking over at her iPad
"My virtual dog, I got a husky. You think mommy would let me have one ?"
"Nah, dogs are a big responsibility"
I was about to change the channel until the news anchor said something catching my attention.
"5 months after the death of 17 year old teen Travis McCoy, authorities arrested 23 year old Marley Jamison last night in connection with the young teens death"
"God is good" I whispered to myself playing with the necklace around my neck
"All the time" Gia said not taking her eyes away from her iPad making me laugh
I heard my phone ringing and I jumped up from the couch running to go get it. I tried to slide by my door but ended up busting my ass in the process.
"Shit" I rubbed my lower back "Who the fuck wanted these slippery ass floors"
I grabbed my phone and answered it still out of breath.
"Damn bitch, did you just get fucked ?" Jasmine questioned
"No, I was running and my ass fell straight on that hard floor"
It wasn't even 2.5 seconds before she loudly screamed in the phone laughing. My face fell flat as she continued for a whole 2 minutes.
"I'm about to hang up on you if you keep laughing"
"Okay I'm done but I just pictured that shit in slow motion and it made it tens times funnier" She said as her laughter died down
"Fuck you"
"I think the floor already did when your ass dropped dead on it" She said before laughing again
I hung up the phone and walked out of my room with it in my hand. Her block head ass would be calling me back. As I predicted my phone rung again.
"If you laugh, I'm hanging up on that ass" I plopped on the couch noticing Gia was gone
"Alright I'm sorry, but did you see the news ?"
"Yeah, just now"
"Let's go to his trial and light that bitch up, like dead ass. We could go straight for blows -"
"Jasmine, no"
"But we could -"
"No"
"Man fine" She sucked her teeth
I continued my conversation with her until the smell of something burning hit my nose. I jumped up from the couch and followed the smell all the way to the kitchen.
"Gia what the hell ?!" I yelled as I fanned the smoke out of my face
"I don't know what happened !"
I opened the oven only to be faced with a whole load of black smoke. I started coughing as I could hear footsteps towards the kitchen.
"Man, what the hell ?!" Daya yelled as she walked inside the kitchen
"It wasn't even me, it was Gia bad ass" I opened the kitchen window
"I wanted some cookies!" She yelled stomping her feet
"I told mama your ass would try and cook them shit by yourself" Daya grabbed a dish towel and started fanning the smoke
"Tania what the hell going on over there ? Y'all dying ? Want me to call 911 ?" Jasmine yelled through my phone
I couldn't even breath normally from all the smoke I was breathing in. I walked out of the kitchen and stepped outside to catch my breath.
"This lil girl is crazy" I mumbled as my breathing was back to normal
Once I walked back to the kitchen, it was only a little bit of smoke still inside. I helped Daya fan out the last bit of smoke left and left the window opened.
"Hope you know you gon' clean that oven" I looked down at Gia
"And I'm telling mama what your bad ass did, cause you know she told you not to try and cook them cookies" Daya said
"Snitch" Gia mumbled before walking out
I sprayed some Febreeze before grabbing my phone and returned back to my conversation with Jasmine.
"Girl what the hell was going on ?" She asked as soon as I said hello
"Gia ass almost burned down the damn house, good thing I smelt it"
"Hell yeah, you got that K-9 nose"
"And I can smell the bullshit you about to say next, bye Jasmine"
"Love you bae"
"Shut up, gay ass" I laughed before hanging up
