EPISODE #89 IN FANFIC

Vera shakes her head

Vera - No, I never had a daughter. Stop being ridiculous McDonald!

Cassie - We both know you did Miss Bennett.....there is no point denying it. I know you're my mother, I hired a private detective to get to the truth. The whole reason I'm in Wentworth is so I could see you. I found out you worked here and when I got into trouble I pleaded with the judge to send me to Wentworth. They were going to send me to Barnhurst, being only a petty criminal but I made up a story about needing to come here to be close to my family.....well, I say made up a story but that was actually true, wasn't it? But I made out I needed to be close to my fake parents, truth is I don't speak to them anymore
Vera - Disowned you did they?
Cassie shakes her head
Cassie - I disowned them, they are disgraceful excuses for parents, adoptive or otherwise. So you see now I have no family and I want my real mother in my life... I'd like to understand why you gave me away too
Vera -Get back to the laundry! I won't ask again
Cassie - Oh no...no you're not getting out of this! I'm your daughter and I want you to face up to it
Vera - I don't have to face anything, and may I remind you that I'm the officer here
Cassie looks angry
Cassie -Even now you are still hiding behind the officer and prisoner barriers?
Vera - Come on, back to the laundry!
Vera marches along the corridor with Cassie

Bob is in the reception with Derek Sparrow
Bob - What is all this about Mr Sparrow?
Derek - It's like I already told your officer, I must see my wife Pam
Bob - Mrs Morris will have explained to you that Pam has lost her visiting rights.
Derek - I don't care about that, I need to see her
Bob - Out of the question I'm sorry. Rules are rules
Derek begins to cry
Derek - Please, I must see her, It's torturing me since she told me the marriage was over. I need to fix things or I'll end up killing myself or something!
Bob sighs and looks troubled
He turns to Meg
Bob - Get Sparrow and bring her here
Meg looks surprised
Meg - But what about her ban on visits?
Bob - Look I'm far from happy about this, but what else can we do? Just don't let the others know that she's having a visitor I'll have Bryant and the rest of them demanding visits too
Meg nods her head
Meg - I'll get her

Dwyers old office block
Eileen is sitting behind the desk in Dwyer's old office when her office phone rings. She answers
Eileen - Yes what is it?
Voice - Miss Donovan is here to see you Mrs Raymond
Eileen smiles with delight
Eileen - Oh yes, please show her in Carol
Eileen puts the phone back on the hook and sits back in her seat

Exterior shot of Kath and Jim's house
Kath is out the front doing her garden as Ron Gilbert arrives
Ron - Hello Kath
Kath smiles
Kath - Good morning Ron, how are you today?
Ron - The old back is giving me some grief, other than that I'm ok
Kath - Thanks for those seeds, they came up lovely
Ron - Oh my pleasure, anyone who likes gardening is alright in my book. Your garden looks almost as good as mine now!
Kath - I never thought I'd like gardening this much I must admit
Ron - How's the new job going?
Kath - Oh it's fine, I didn't want to leave the babies so soon but Jim is proving to be great with them
Ron - Still it's unusual for the man to stay at home with the kids rather than the woman!
Kath - Yes well one of us needs to work and Jim's not up to it with his depression. The librarian job came up so I took it
Ron - And I think it's admirable Kath! But even so, Jim really should see the dr about his depression
Kath - Don't you think I've tried to ask him to go? He refuses to, says he can deal with it himself
Ron shakes his head
Ron - It's been weeks, some days when you're at work he calls me and asks if I can come in and keep him company....then he just sits there talking about what a failure he thinks he is
Kath - Yes I know...
A car pulls up outside The Battersby's and a familiar face steps out - Kyle
Kyle - Cheers for the lift Mark! Come in for a while man!
The other guy in the car turns his engine off and gets out, he is an older lad around 18 or 19
Kyle looks over at Kath and Ron with a demonic smirk
Kyle - G'day Kathy! Mr Gilbert!
Ron - So they've let you out have they?
Kyle - Yup! Parole! Home sweet home!..this is me mate Mark, we shared a cell!
Mark - G'day!
Kyle - well catch ya later
Kyle and Mark go inside
Ron - So that little hooligan is out again!
Kath - This is all we need, wait until I tell Jim about this, this will only make his depression worse
Ron - You never know, maybe the boy has calmed down now?
Kath - Not likely is it?
Ron - No I suppose not...but at least the rest of them aren't around!
Kath - I'm sure Kyle will cause trouble all on his own he doesn't need Des or Shanice here with him...Jim still feels like he let Jeremy down as well
Ron - But that was hardly Jim's fault
Kath - Well I know that and you know that but Jim is convinced he should have done more for the boy
Kath sighs with despair
Kath - Why is life never easy Ron?
