Kath is sitting there, the room is silent
Sergeant Johnson - Well Maxwell?
Kath - Rodney killed his mother, he wanted to kill me too but I got away
Johnson - Why was he going to kill you?
Kath - Because he wanted me to marry him and I rejected him
Johnson - We believe that you didn't kill Mrs Adams, Maxwell, as Mr Adams's fingerprints are all over the sawn-off shotgun....but his own death is not so clear cut. He died of poisoning and how are we to know you didn't give that to him?
Kath - I honestly didn't, he must have committed suicide after I got away, he did threaten it but I never thought he'd go through with it, he was so unstable and very obsessive about me. I am pregnant with his baby as well
Kath shakes her head and pretends to look upset
Kath - I begged him to get some help Sergeant, he was very sick in the head, and I wanted to help him get better, but he would not see reason. He abducted me from here, I didn't even want to go and he kept me chained up in a cellar for days and days

Janice and Ian are having a coffee
Ian - I can't blame you for liking McPherson, she's a very pretty girl
Janice - Yes she is, and like I told you she's mine so hands-off in future
