EPISODE #125 IN FANFIC

Some days have passed since Boxing day

Eileen and Ted are in a meeting with a group of people
The meeting looks grim and Eileen looks especially grim and troubled
A female member of the group speaks
Woman - So these are the findings of our investigation. The building did not meet the required standards and many corners had been cut compromising safety. The building was structurally unsafe and built on weak foundations. It was a disaster waiting to happen and it just happened to be an Earthquake that did it. What do you to say about it Mrs Raymond?
Eileen - I still can't believe this, the builders cut so many corners, and that's why the building collapsed? This is shocking, I had no idea
The woman - Well we put it to you that you did know. You were in charge of that entire project, the budget. Nothing went on that you didn't know about, your signature is on every document. It is our belief that you knowingly cut corners in order to spend less money. Now, what do you have to say about that?
Eileen - I say its absolute rubbish of course
A man speaks
The man - But you would say that we hardly expect you to own up to it
The woman - However now really would be the time to come clean Eileen, if you need to tell us anything tell us now
Eileen - Look everything I did I did with good intentions. I placed all my trust in my builders. Ok so I wanted to save a bit of cash, I did suggest to the builders to find the cheapest options, but as long as they were safe. I trusted them and I truly believed that the builders knew what they were doing
The man - So now you admit to knowingly allowing them to cut corners?
Eileen - Well....(hesitates).... yes...but I meant well and I really had no idea anything like this would happen
Ted attacks Eileen suddenly, he is furious
Ted - YOU BLOODY STUPID BITCH, MY DAUGHTER IS DEAD NOW THANKS TO YOU!
Eileen - TED PLEASE, I'M SORRY!
Ted is restrained by the other people
The woman - I must ask you please to behave yourself Mr Ferguson, any more outbursts like that and you will be asked to leave the meeting

Wentworth
Bob is behind his desk when there is a knock at the door
Bob - Come in
Toni enters the room......With Vern beside her. Vern is wearing a Wentworth uniform
Toni - Mr Moran this is Mr Schofield
Bob - Oh yes, I was expecting you today Mr Schofield, please take a seat
Vern - Thank you
Vern sits and holds out a hand to shake
They shake
Toni - I will leave you both to it
Vern - Thank you for giving me a tour and bringing me here officer Williams, I will not forget the favour and when you need one in return I'll be ready and waiting
Toni - It was no bother really, I like to help when I can
Toni leaves the room
Vern - Nice young girl that one
Bob - Yes, Officer Williams is one of my finest officers, she has a great attitude toward the prisoners
Vern - She offered to give me a tour of the prison without me even asking, I was very impressed
Bob - And what did you make of the prison?
Vern - Well it's different to Blackmoor, certainly, it is
Bob - And do you see that as a good thing or a bad thing?
Vern - I don't know yet, it's too early to tell. Ask me again in a week or two and maybe I will be able to give you an answer...I was a bit surprised when I saw the Restaurant though. I may as well be honest and say I'm not sure I approve of that at all
Bob - I cannot see what there is to disapprove of really, it will be an excellent opportunity here
Vern - Well of course you're the governor not me, so I have to go along with it. But I am just being honest, I can't pretend I approve of something when I don't
Bob - I appreciate that I like honesty from my staff
They sit in silence for a second, both seeming unsure where to take the conversation next
Eventually, Vern speaks
Vern - well Mr Moran, here we are eh, working together at last
Bob - How are you feeling about your step down to deputy governor?
Vern - I am not thrilled about it, who would be? But the fact is I don't have a prison to be governor for anymore and they could hardly fire you to make me governor here, that wouldn't be fair. It wasn't your fault Blackmoor fell down
Bob - Yes, quite
Bob sighs and looks troubled
Bob - I may as well be honest with you, I was happy with the deputy governor I had, so I wasn't particularly happy about having to demote her and put you in her place. However one does not argue with orders from one's superiors, so I had no choice but to accept it. I am prepared to work with you and get along, I hope we can get along well
Vern - All fair enough, I understand how you feel. I agree it would be good to work well together and get along
