Dear Diary,

We stayed at Phil's parents' place last night so we could properly sort out a plan. It's typical that it's happened now; getting trains ANYWHERE is going to be an absolute nightmare on Christmas Eve. But we just can't stay here. As much as I wish we could have Christmas at home as a family with Phil's parents, we can't. People could come for us/Dil at any time and that's something I'm not willing to risk. I said I'm going to fight for my family and I'm sticking to my word.

Right now, we're on a train heading north. I think Phil said something about stopping in Birmingham until Boxing Day and then heading further north. I just hope the people who will be looking for us don't work over the Christmas period, since they'd more than definitely be able to track us through our credit cards. We've already abandoned our mobile phones at home, just in case they tried to track us through those. I really hope we're doing the right thing.

Phil's asleep in the seat opposite me. It's getting dark already and it's only just turned 4pm. We've been on the train for around an hour and we've still got between thirty minutes to another hour left. The train is packed, unsurprisingly. I don't know what else we expected when travelling on Christmas Eve. I guess it could be worse though; everyone's in the high spirit of Christmas so there's a nice atmosphere, rather than it being silent and awkward with a load of professional, first class people turning their nose up at you if you so much as blink.

This definitely wasn't how I expected my Christmas to turn out. It'll be an adventure, for sure. First stop: Birmingham.

Signing out,

Dan.
