Chapter 32: 7 Years Later

~Liam WolfHearts's POV~
Today is my 17th birthday. The day I become Alpha of the Fighter Jet pack. And the day I find my mate. Theodore didn't want the position, so he gave it to me. I'm happy with his decision. Over these past 7 years, Claudia and I have gotten really close. She's know everything about me and I know everything about her. And my Black Magic doesn't scare her. My uncles will do the celebration. Claudia has been acting weird all day today. I'm worried about her. We're still in high school. And she has a sister named Charlene. And her mother was killed in the same rouge attack that killed my parents. So she has a stepmom now. Although her stepmom hits her. A lot.
"Hey hey bro!" Theodore shouted.
"Hey man." I said.
I looked over and saw Claudia talking to Charlene, Wanda, Trisha, Sasha and Jewel. She looked sad. Almost in tears.
"She okay man?" Theodore asked.
Our friends Jack, Sean and Roger walked up to us.
"No. Lemme go see if she's alright." I said.

~Claudia's POV~
Today's the day. The day my best friend and biggest crush finds his mate. And as soon as he does, that girl will be his whole world. And I'll be nothing but a distant memory. All the fun times we had together...

Him pushing me down the Walmart parking lot in a Target shopping cart.

Him taking the long way to take me home after our first date.

Him accidentally forgetting to write Christmas cards.

Him almost setting himself on fire whilst lighting the fireplace on Christmas Eve.

Him singing songs to me in his husky voice every night.

Him whispering sweet nothings in my ear whenever I'm sad.

Him taking care of me when I'm sick.

Him saying 'I Love You' to me everyday and every night.

Him playing Twister with me until 3 am

Him watching Scooby-Doo marathons with me.

Him eating Doritos and Lays chips with me.

Him eating tubs of Ben & Jerry's ice cream with me.

Him taking me out to dinner.

Him kissing me.

Will all be a distant memory...

I was talking to Sasha, Trisha, Charlene, Wanda and Jewel.
"Why the long face?" Charlene, my sister, asked.
I sighed.
"I just know that once Atticus finds his mate, he'll forget about me. And everything we did together... He'll forget. And she'll be his life." I said.
"Oh get over yourself girl!" Shasta shouted.
"Shh! He's coming!" Trisha shouted.
I saw Atticus walking towards us. Oh damn. He is a sexy hunk of man meatloaf.
"I am?" Atticus asked.
"Did I say the meatloaf line out loud?" I asked.
"Yes." Atticus said.
I blushed and looked away. Atticus pushed a strand of hair behind my ear. I sighed. We broke up yesterday, due to him possibly finding his mate today. That was the hardest thing he ever had to do. I could tell by the pain and hurt on his face as he said we couldn't be together. I understand why he broke up with me. I just wished he didn't have to.
"When you find your mate... You won't forget me and all the crazy fun stuff we together right?" I asked.
"Of course not. I'll always remember you. You'll never lose me." Atticus said.
Just then Atticus's uncles, Emmet, stood on the stage. Atticus sighed and walked up there.
"As you all know, I and the Derek are retiring from Alpha position. And Atticus is taking over. Now! Today is the day he also will hopefully find his mate! Hopefully she is here." Emmet said.
She probably is. The whole pack cheered. Now is his time to find his mate. I turned so I wouldn't have to see it. I felt a hand on my shoulder. Sparks flew throughout me. I know he felt it too.

Do I dare look?

Why not? I turned around slightly and saw Atticus. His hand on my shoulder.
"Hello... Mate." Atticus said.
"I am? I am!" I shouted.
I turned around fully and jumped him. Wrapping my legs around his waist and my arms around his neck. He chuckled. I felt his chest vibrate as he did.
"I'm so glad I'm your mate." I said.
"I am too." Atticus said.

~Atticus's POV~
I scanned the crowd. Hopefully she's here. When my eyes landed on Claudia. She wasn't facing the stage like everyone else was. She probably didn't want to see me find my mate. I can't believe she thinks of forget everything we did. And the love we once shared. Until my wolf spoke one word to me.

"Mate..." He, Walter, said.

Oh thank God. I ran to her. I placed my hand on her right shoulder. She flinched. She felt the sparks just as I did. She semi turned to face me.
"Hello... Mate." I said.
She seemed so thrilled.
"I am? I am!" She shouted.
Oh this is Claudia I know and love. She turned fully and jumped me. Wrapping her legs around my waist and her arms around my neck. I just had to chuckle at her.
"I'm so glad your my mate." Claudia said.
"I am too." I said.
I kissed her passionately. She seemed shocked at the sudden kiss but quickly accepted it.
"My best friend is my mate." She whispered against my chest.
"My best friend is my mate." I said.
She giggled. She kissed me.
"Uh... I hate to interrupt, and burst your bubble. But, uh... Is Claudia your mate?" Uncle Emmet said.
"No shut Sherlock fucking Holmes you're a fucking genius." I said.
Emmet growled. But I didn't the same thing.
"No need to be mean." Uncle Derek said.
"I don't give a damn. He should know that I wouldn't kiss any other girl unless it was beautiful mate." I said.
"True." Derek said.
Claudia cuddled up into my chest.
"Can we go to sleep now?" Claudia asked.
"Of course." I said.
The pack cheered on account of me finding my mate and their future Luna. Never knew they'd be so happy.

I took Claudia up to our room. It's our room now. And gently placed her under the comforter. She grabbed my wrist and pulled me down next to her. She's strong to pull down an Alpha. We're the strongest breed out there. Due to our rank. Know what I'm saying? I sighed content. I have my best friend as my beautiful mate.
"Claudia?" I asked.
"Yes?" She asked.
"Would you like to go out with me again?" I asked.
I knew it was supposed to ask. But I just had to. You know? Right on. Mates always love each other. It's kinda like being already married.
"Of course, my dear." Claudia said.

And with that...

We sealed the deal with a kiss.
