Chapter Six

The black Bentley was parked out the back, and a man dressed in a black suit stood at the passenger door.He was tall and built, and Emma immediately knew this was Bennett's chauffeur.

"Mr Dean," He nodded as Bennett and Emma approached the vehicle. He opened the door.

"Andy," Bennett replied. He reached out and put his hand on the small of Emma's back and gently led her inside. Emma's breath caught at the contact, but she tried her best to stay calm.

Emma smiled at Andy, who nodded at her. His face and big brown eyes were emotionless.

It was hard for her to try to act graceful as she scooted over the seat. She was practically scrambling over and hoped Bennett did not get in straight away. When she was sitting down in her seat and poised, Bennett slid inside gracefully. Of course, Emma thought.

Andy started the car and began to pull out onto the main street.

Bennett looked over at Emma and smiled that same perfect smile as before.

"So where am I taking you?"

Emma gave him her address, and Bennett nodded.

"Do you live with family, friends?" He asked.

"A roommate. Her father pays most of the rent on the apartment so it was advertised well within my budget."

Bennett nodded, before his phone rang. He reached inside his pocket and checked the screen.

"Excuse me I have to answer," He said.

"Sure" She turned to look out the window.

The interruption gave Emma a chance to take everything in. The chemistry Bennett was radiating was immense. Every part of her body was tingling, and every slight move he made she registered immediately. It was overwhelming, and she was surprised by her reaction. No-one had ever made her stand to attention as he was doing right now. No, not even Adam.

Through a side glance she studied him. His suit pants sat perfectly on his lean and toned legs, tight at the thighs. The rest of him, as she headed up, just got better. He was not thin, but muscular and lean, and obviously took great care in his physical appearance. Emma risked a look at his face as he spoke into his cell and was struck by his gorgeous features. His chiselled face showed off a man that was too good looking for words. From his side profile, his face was clear, freshly shaven and his sandy blonde hair was sleeked back with every strand in it's place. He oozed not only power and wealth, but bucket loads of sex appeal. Why he wanted to drive her home was beyond her. She could not for a second even bring herself to imagine that he just might be interested in her. From the Harbour Room to her apartment it was a fifteen minute bus ride, but it was going to be much quicker in the car. Emma found herself wishing she lived an hour away.

"So, have you lived in New York all your life?" Bennett's question snapped her out of her thoughts. She had not even heard him end his phone call.

"Um, no I haven't. I've been in New York for five years. I'm from Ohio," Emma could hear her voice trembling with nervousness and wondered if he could also.

"Ohio?" He raised his eyebrows. "Wow, what brought you out here?"

Emma shrugged. "My father got offered a partnership in his good friends law firm and he couldn't pass it up,"

Bennett was silent for a moment. "Sounds as though you wish he had passed it up,"

Emma looked out the window as they drove ahead. "For the most part,"
