Chapter Nineteen
Upon arriving back home from the Hamptons, Emma was not surprised to find herself inside one of the local newspapers. The picture showed herself, Ella and Mrs Dean lunching at a café during their time away. It had been captioned, Bennett Dean's fiancée shops for a wedding dress! Inside there was shock horror over the fact that Bennett Deans fiancée was purchasing a store bought gown and that Mrs Dean was present during this awful time.
Bennett laughed it off, but Emma was annoyed. Did every one out there expect her to behave like a spoiled brat just because she was marrying a billionaire? It was absurd, and quite frankly, out of order.
Seeing herself splashed in the papers was not a new thing for her, as she was becoming accustomed to it. That's not to say she liked it. She was a little tired of the attention, and especially tired of being caught of guard in the simplest of situations, such as walking to work at Rock's Deli and heading off to campus. It was very trying, and Emma found she had to always be immaculately presented, and never falter.
She was more than relieved that thoughts of Adam had ceased the very next day at the Hamptons. She simply put it down to wedding jitters and nothing else. Although they had come full force, they seemed to exit the same way. Emma was thankful for that.
She was back in full swing, crazy for her man Bennett and happier than ever to be marrying him.
Having moved into Bennett's apartment, Emma was now doing a juggling act, trying to find the time to work, study, see her family and Abby. It was crazy, and she found it hard to believe there was once a time where she did not even care to see her family, care about doing anything with her life, and just saw her friend whenever she happened to be home. She felt like a completely different person, and she had Bennett to thank for pulling her out of her self pity.
The Harbour Room was now a distant memory, there was no contact with Elise or Seth, and Emma felt great about it. That last night at work had been the worst, and she was glad she was rid of those people, including Seth. He had once been a friend, but after spilling his guts to Elise about their hook up, she no longer saw him the same way. If Bennett fired both of them tomorrow, she wouldn't care less.

The intercom buzzed at midday on the dot, and that made Emma smile. Abby had always been punctual, and today she was right on the dot.
Emma buzzed her in and waited by the elevator for her friend to arrive.
When the elevator sounded, the doors opened and out stepped her best friend, all big brown eyes, tight shorts and tank top.
"Hey stranger," Abby hugged Emma tightly.
Emma hugged her back the same. She missed her best friend sometimes. It certainly was very different living here with Bennett and also Mrs Hayne, his live in help than it had been living with Abby. Abby had been in and out, carefree and didn't care if a dish or two was left in the sink. Although it would always be tidy, Bennett would expect the apartment to be absolutely immaculate, and that kept not only Mrs Hayne but even Emma on her toes. His pedantic ways made her love him even more when they weren't annoying her.
Abby sat beside her at the kitchen counter and began tucking into yesterdays leftovers of macaroni and cheese, one of Bennett's simple childhood favourites. Mrs Hayne had kindly set it all up for Emma, once she heard that Abby was coming over. She was ever the accommodating housekeeper and Emma was quite fond if her. An older lady, with blonde hair and smiling hazel eyes, she had been divorced for many years, and her two children were all grown up now and living in Vancouver and California.
