Synopsis

Long ago, all humans lived beneath the sea. However, some people preferred the surface and abandoned living underwater permanently. As a consequence, they were stripped of their god-given protection called "Ena" which allowed them to breathe underwater. Over time, the rift between the denizens of the sea and of the surface widened, although contact between the two peoples still existed. Nagi no Asukara follows the story of Hikari Sakishima and Manaka Mukaido, along with their childhood friends Chisaki Hiradaira and Kaname Isaki, who are forced to leave the sea and attend a school on the surface. There, the group also meets Tsumugu Kihara, a fellow student and fisherman who loves the sea. Hikari and his friends' lives are bound to change as they have to deal with the deep-seated hatred and discrimination between the people of sea and of the surface, the storms in their personal lives, as well as an impending tempest which may spell doom for all who dwell on the surface.

One of those anime series that has a complicated love story. Actually, I remembered watching your lie in april here :) Best description of this series: You fall for one. They fall for another </3

All I can say, it is worth to watch :) I love the concept "of not having the ability to fall in love". It's for you to find out what I'm talking about.

It has 26 episodes. I did'nt search its manga since I am satisfied on how the story ends. That's all :)

Quotes:

"Being in love is a difficult situation. Too much to bear, you can't help it. You can't control yourself to the extent that you're sad and in pain, and your heart is full." -Uroko

"Having feelings for someone just brings sorrow to someone else. Someone always gets sacrificed and suffers. If this is what it means to fall in love, then falling in love is terrible." -Hikari Sakishima

"Love is probably like the sea. It's not just all fun and love. You also have to embrace the sadness, pain, and everything else. That's when new feelings are born." - Tsumugu Kihara
