"Maska was my boyfriend."

I open my mouth but no words come out. Nova looks at me with past pain flashing in her eyes. Already a bruise is taking over her left eye.

"I trust you, Bart. This is why I'm telling you this." She speaks softly, still holding my hands underneath the water.

"Maska found me while I was training with my elder. He learned that I was different, powerful..." She trails offs, tracing her thumb over my nearly healed palm.

"He told me he loved me, and I believed him. It was really good for a long time, and I wasn't alone anymore."

I can't picture that angry guy ever being loving. Besides the fact that I want to punch him in the face.

"At first, it was just one bruise..." Her voice trembles, and she still hasn't looked up at me. "He swore it would never happen again, and I believed him. But it just kept getting worst..."

My hands move so I'm holding hers in the water. My skin healed by now. I can feel her shaking, and the slight difference of body temperature as she heats up slightly.

"When Maska got angry, he does horrible things. I figure out he didn't love me, he loved my power. But not me. That night, he got so angry. I was trying to break up with him, to get away from him, but he completely lost it." Her hands tighten around mine.

"Torran's aren't effected by each other's heat, even with my unique powers I couldn't do anything to stop him. He's just stronger than me. He just kept hitting me and hitting me and I thought he was going to kill me. I'm still not sure how I got away, but I knew about Earth, and I didn't know where else to go. I thought I could hide away from him..."

A vile taste rises in my mouth, and I have to force myself to relax. Maska will never touch this girl ever again.

"Nova, I swear I will never let anyone hurt you ever again. I'm so sorry." I found my own voice tremble with emotion.

She finally looks up at me. Those beautiful blue eyes piercing right through me.

"I know." She whispers. "I trust you, Bart."

Slowly, her fingers trail up my arms. Tracing my shoulders, then my collarbones. Her digits move to my shoulder blades, flattering her palms out against my back. She leans forward, and I keep perfectly still. Gently, she presses her cheek against my chest, right over my heart. Then, I feel the heat from her body warm me up as she holds me.

"This is an Oya. It means I'll always hold your heart, give you my heat. It means I will love you and keep your heat strong for as long as the suns thrive."

Her heat gives me a warmth I've never experienced before. Gently, I place my hand against her cheek. She unwraps her arms from around my shoulders, but keeps her hands on my arms.

Her bright blue eyes drown me in a sea I never want to leave.

"This is how Earthlings show their love. It's called a kiss." I say softly. Closing my eyes, I cup her cheek and kiss her lips. She stays still, before her lips begin moving with mine. Her skin soft, and warm. Slowly, my other hand moves and touches her neck. Her long hair tickling my skin. I want her. I just want Nova. I want her to be happy.

Her hands move and rest against my chest. We lean in against each other, no space separating us anymore. I feel like I'm breathing for the first time. Nova giving me the oxygen I've needed for so long.

Nova throws her body against me, wrapping her arms around me as her mouth demands more kisses. Her teeth hold my bottom lip gently, pulling at it for a second before her lips smash against mine once again. I'm so lost in her heat, that I lose my balance and fall backwards into the water, pulling Nova with me.

We scramble back to our feet, looking at each other once our heads are above the surface.

I grin at her, "The water's really nice tonight."

She lets out a laugh, wrapping her arms around my shoulders. My hands resting on her hips. Slowly, she leans her head against my shoulder. I feel her breath against my neck, and I move my arms to hold her tightly.

"I love you, Bart." She whispers.

"I love you too, Nova." I speak softly into her wet white hair.

In that moment, I've never been warmer.
