Giles coughed, looking around. He had managed to avoid being buried by stone. He looked around and saw many people on the ground, either wounded or dazed. It did not seem like many were buried, and he quickly stood. A few feet away, he saw his scythe and quickly picked it up, checking it over for cracks."Phew! Nuttin' too bad, eh?"

He called out."Get diggin'! Save who ye can!" He saw a hand sticking out of the rubble and rushed over. He touched the scythe to it, blade end facing him, and nodded."Bind." He pulled, and the rubble shifted out of the way. He blinked in surprise when he saw who it was."What da..."

Viviara sighed, dusting herself off."That was very not fun. This was a new dress and everything."

He glared."Ferget yer dress, eh!? Get ta work, there's people buried!"

She sighed."Fine, fine. Honestly, we hired you people for the sole purpose of not wanting to get our hands dirty." She kneeled down, moving rocks aside.

Giles meanwhile, looked up above them."....Ah crap." Men were rappelling down the side of the wall, eyes fixed on whatever survivors were moving. He glared."We got company, eh!" He called to whatever soldiers could hear."Get ready ta fight!"

As he spoke, the man with the scar who had caused the rock slide leapt from the side, landing on his feet and rolling. He chuckled."Ooh, survivors...never been a fan of those, to be honest. Men, take them out!" They landed nearby, quickly charging at the Black Griffin soldiers.

Giles glared, slipping off his sandals. He focused on the charging men, then nodded."Bind." Every man fell forward as one of their feet stuck to the ground, a few snaps ringing out from some of the unfortunate ones who suffered broken bones. He focused again, and they were stuck there as the Black Griffin soldiers charged to finish them off.

Giles himself walked towards the bound-in-place commander, who was named Vikram. "Well...so much for dat plan o' yers, eh?"

Vikram smiled."So, binding magic? Not bad, not bad. Explains the sandals. You need to touch something to bind it, and those are easier to slide off, correct?"

Giles smiled."Pretty observant of ya."

Vikram smiled."The main drawback of this is, of course, that if one object is destroyed, the other is freed."

Giles chuckled."Well, ye ain't destroyin' da ground, so-"

Vikram smiled."I don't have to." The rock beneath him shattered apart, and he stepped forward.

Giles frowned."What da...how'd ya do that, eh!?"

Vikram's smile broadened."Simple. Destruction magic, just like your Ruin."

Giles shook his head."Nah, nah! Magic like that ain't too common!"

Vikram only gave a shrug."So you say, and yet, you have the same magic as your master, do you not?"

He glared."How'dya know that, eh?"

Vikram's smile returned."My lords faction in the Capitol wishes to wipe out your army and reclaim the land you extorted from us. As such, we have spent time finding magic users and developing strategies to deal with the main threats; The commanders."

He pounded his chest proudly."I myself have trained to combat The Ruin, but you...you shall make a nice warm-up, Sapling."

Giles sighed."Always hated dat nickname...."He shrugged."Ah well. If'n ya wanna fight, let's fight." He looked to the soldiers."Go find da noble an' protect 'im, eh? Dig 'im out if ye have to!" The soldiers obeyed and rushed off, leaving Giles and Vikram alone to fight.
