The ground begins to rise beneath the passengers as the plane makes its landing. Chris exhales, relieved that it was finally over. Chris looks next to him to Kaitlin.

Chris smiles.

"Welcome to Pennsylvania." He says.

The first couple months after I was granted custody of Kaitlin were pretty difficult, but we obviously managed to get through it. I stayed in New Mexico for a week after being granted custody to help Kaitlin with packing and everything else that she needed to do. I also spent that time putting up a proper explanation as to who Kaitlin is and why out situation is the way is. I tried my best to answer as many questions as I could and even did a couple short phone interviews with some magazines; none like this one though. They were all pretty short.

I went home for a couple of months to get my house and family ready for Kaitlin. I got her room set up and painted, I figured out as to who exactly she'd stay with when I would leave for tour; stuff like that. She gets along great with everyone now, so I don't really worry about what it'll be like for her when I have to leave. I know she'll be okay.

Those couple months apart were really difficult for Kaitlin and I both because the two of us were just so anxious to get her to Scranton. Iris did a great job helping Kaitlin in the meantime though. Kaitlin was able to figure out what she wanted to bring with her to Scranton and get it shipped to me, and saved the smaller things that she still needed with her for when she actually moved.

I then eventually flew out to New Mexico again for a short time to help Kaitlin with any last minute things she needed. It was really great to see her again that time because I knew that, even though she seemed really okay with everything, Lindsey's passing was really hard on her and I wanted to help her get through it. No one blamed her for being upset. No way would I have been able to go through what Kaitlin went through at thirteen and still come out swinging. She's a tough one.

Anyway, when I was gone, Kaitlin would talk to me a lot because she was sad or scared or depressed or angry or whatever else, and it really had me worried about her. I think it really helped once I got to see her again and comfort her in person. It definitely helped that when I got to see her again that time, when I came back for her, she knew that from that day on, I would always be coming back for her.

Despite how comforting that moment may have been, I could tell that it was really hard for Kaitlin to leave New Mexico and the house she grew up in. Kaitlin had never even moved to a new house before, let alone a new state on the complete opposite side of the country. She kept assuring me that she was fine though, and I can tell she's happy where we are now.

Chris and Kaitlin walk out of the airport to find it pouring rain.

Chris blinks, "Welcome to Pennsylvania." He says again, but in a deadpanned tone. Of course, Kaitlin couldn't tell. She puts her hood up.
