Jungkook

His eyes adjust to the sudden flash of light emitting through his room when his brother runs in, turning on the light in the morning just to scream at him.

"Happy Birthday Jungkook!"

Jungkook had thought it was too early for this, and he didn't like to celebrate his birthday anyways, so he was beyond annoyed.

"Get out, hyung-"

He threw a soft pillow, using the only strength he had in his morning, noodle arms. Unfortunatley, it wasn't enough to offend his elder brother. Instead, he had caught the pillow swiftly, placing it down before stepping closer.

"What do you wanna do for-"

"Nothing-"

His brother seemed a little taken back at the sudden interruption, but proceeded.

"C'mon, it doesn't have to be big."

"No."

Jungkook wanted it to be clear to anyone that knew about his birthday, he simply didn't care and didn't want anyone else to. He's just never been one for attention, and this was no exception to him, even if it was his friend's attention given to him.

After a few more moments of bickering, it was decided that Jungkook wouldn't budge, so he was left alone. Looking over at his alarm clock, he saw no point in going back to sleep, it was about time to get ready for his class. He trudged out of bed and into the bathroom to get ready for another mediocre day, with the exception of seeing Jimin, of course.

Jimin

Observing Jungkook from afar, Jimin watched him as he took his seat. He could swear he felt butterflies in his stomach just from staring.

"Jungkookie-"

Jungkook's eyes widened the slightest bit at the nickname when he looked up at Jimin.

"Uh- hi-"

Even his awkwardness is so cute, god.

Jimin giggled the slightest before turning back to the professor that started speaking after the bell had rung. The professor was taking attedance on his small laptop sitting on his desk.

"Alright, looks like everyone is here toda- oh Jungkook, happy birthday."

Jimin's jaw almost dropped. It was Jungkook's  birthday and he didn't know? He took a glimpse at Jungkook and realized why he hadn't told anyone. His face was flushed to a dark shade of pink, he must've hated the attention it drew.

He could hear a mumbled thanks, without Jungkook bothering to look up from his fiddling hands, once. Jimin wanted to comfort Jungkook in that moment but decided against it because, well, they were in the middle of a class.

Acting anything from patient, at the end of class, Jimin instantly questions the shy boy.

"It's your birthday?"

Jungkook just nodded as he finished packing his notebooks.

"You weren't gonna tell me?"

Jimin looked up to Jungkook's eyes this time, hoping he would look back, giving a resonable explanation.

"Well- I didn't want to recieve stuff and have to celebrate and all..."

His sentence trailed off at the end, sounding somewhat apologetic. Jimin did feel sympathetic towards the younger, but wished he would've known.

"Why not? It's just me-"

Jimin began to start questioning himself in the back of his head whether Jungkook even wanted to open up to him in the first place.

"No- that's not what I meant Jimin. I just don't like celebrating my birthday in general."

He nodded, but was determined to make a compromise.

"What if it was just you and me? We don't have to do anything big- just go somewhere you wanna go."

Jungkook hesitated, Jimin could see it. But Jungkook also wasn't blind to Jimin's determination, so he agreed to go to his favorite cafe, the one he goes to on his breaks, but only under one condition.

"I get to pay, even if it is my birthday."

Jimin wasn't satisfied, but eventually had to be.

They walked there together, Jungkook looking forward, leading the way. Jimin had been gazing all over at the new surroundings.

"This is it."

Jungkook had stopped in front of the small building with large glass windows showing the interior of the cafe. Jimin had thought it looked so cute, it looked so Jungkook. It had a brown scheme to it, showing a variety of shades of brown. There were paintings hanging from the walls of small cups of coffee with the intricate cream designs painted on them. The modern lights hanging down over the tables also gave it a more modern feel, Jimin thought.

The two of them step inside, Jungkook taking a seat by the window.

"Do you always sit here?"

Jimin decided to ask. He had a feeling it was a normal thing.

"Yeah, I like looking outside at the people, or the weather, or just anything going on out there."

He couldn't help but to grin towards Jungkook as he watched out the window. He just imagined him doing that everytime he was here, sipping on his coffee while staring at all the interesting scenes happening outdoors.

"Do you wanna order now?"

Jungkook's eyes met with Jimin's for a change, bringing him out of thought.

"Sure-"

The two walked up and ordered the same thing, caramel macchiatos. They both agreed that was definitely the best drink to get, especially when it was iced. After recieving their order, they sit down at the same table and sip the delicious coffee together.

"So, you're nineteen-"

Jungkook nods once, glaring down into his coffee.

"What do you want?"

"What-"

"For your birthday."

Jimin chuckled slightly at the confusion as Jungkook shook his head in disapproval.

"Nothing- this is it."

Well he can be stubborn. Jimin concluded.

"But it's your birthday, you should get something."

He couldn't help but to want to argue with Jungkook.

"Yeah, but I'm just not that fond of recieving."

Jimin didn't want to push it, and he respected what he had to say. But he wasn't gonna give up on the present.

"...So what if I still got you something anyway?"

Jungkook's eyes dart to Jimin's giving him what looked like almost a death glare.

"Jimin- don't."

In contrast, Jimin smiles gleefully towards the annoyed younger.

The rest of the so called "date" was spent sipping down on the medium sized macchiatos they both had ordered and having general conversation. Jimin enjoyed small moments like these and little did he know that these were the moments that Jungkook was going to love and remember the most.
