Chapter 18

Emery's point of view:
My eyes flutter open. Eyelids are heavy. My eyes focus on what is in front of me. What I see is Charles Xavier, walking towards me. Wheelchair no where to be seen.
"We're in the astroplane." I say to him.
He nods. "I have taught you well."
"What happened? I can't remember."
"You," he sighs, "I don't know for sure. I'm here to go back with you. Are you ready?"
I nod and the scene around me shifts.
I see myself in Sinister's lab. Past me is sitting on the Doctor's lap. He's talking to me. Xavier turns up the volume.
I gasp. "He's speaking the language my mom taught me."
"You are mine child. You know I love you, right?"
Me in the past nods.
"You must've known."
I step back and grab my head. There is a ringing in my ear. I look up to see me in the past doing the same. I hear a snap and the ringing stops. I see myself run out the window.
We follow me to the helicarrier. And I start straight up slaughtering agents of shield.
The vision shifts.
We're on top of the Daily Buggle building. I see myself fighting the sentinel I fought earlier this year.
"Xavier, why are we here?" I turn to him. He is deeply staring at my memory. His eyes are focused on my techniques.
In my memory, the sentinel punches me into the ground 3 times. At the 4th I'm glowing, all powered up.

(I just realized I didn't explain what a Maverick is. Shoot! A Maverick's power is derived from taking kinetic energy used by another person against the Maverick and using their power against them. If you have ever read the Seven Deadly Sins anime, Meliodis's power is pretty much a Maverick's power.)
I jump up in my memory and with one punch to the face, shatter the infrastructure of the sentinel.
"Xavier!" I shout. He jumps and I chuckle. "Why are we here?"
"Do you see him?" He points to an alley. I squint and notice some wings.
"Angel?"
"He's watching you."
"I can't believe it!"
"I can." The professor sighs.
"I thought he went missing last year?"
"He was turned into a subject of Sinister's after an accident left him wingless."
"What?!"
"He's now Arc Angel."

I can't believe I didn't explain what a Maverick is oml I'm an idiot. You could have looked it up on google it's an actual power that the Marvel universe used for a character lol.
