I slump onto my bed at Liam's after a long exhausting day of album promo. My chest feels so heavy due to struggling to sing all day long during tv performances.
I'm so exhausted but I know what I have to do now. During this rare moment of down time I have to call Modest! I just can't find the will to do it.
I lazily pull my mobile phone out of my jeans pocket and flip through my contacts. I click on Marks number in my phone brining it up to my ear
"Niall! How are you? Please tell me you're not back in the hospital or something?" Mark answers quickly
"No I'm fine" I roll my eyes thanks for your concern
"Oh thank god. So what is it?" He asks sounding bored
"Well I went to the doctor the other day and they told me I could get the tumor in my lung removed which will give me a chance at being cancer free soon" I explain to him "but it's sort of major surgery and the only way my doctor will operate is if I can take I month off from work after to recover" I say the last part quickly
"A month!?! Are you serious!?!" He shouts through the phone
"Yeah and I know it's a long time and you've already given me a lot of time off but I really need this operation and the lads said they would continue to work even while in out" I try to reason with him
"Niall this isn't like a job at McDonalds that you can call in sick and have someone take your shift! I need you working! It's hard enough promoting this album when all interviewers talk about is where the hell you are all the time!?" He shouts frustrated
"I know I haven't been around a lot but the sooner I have this surgery the sooner I can recover and hopefully be cancer free for tour!" I pinch the bridge of my nose frustratingly. Liam crashes into my room then quietly seeing me on the phone gets quite
"I understand that Niall but I can't give you a month off right after the album drops all for the slim possibility that you become cancer free"
"Mark this is the only chance I have! If I don't get the surgery soon I'll have to wait two more weeks and by then the tumor could grow more and then I'm back to where I started"
"I'm sorry Niall. I would give you the time off if I could but this is a terrible time for you to do this" I sigh upset
"Give me the phone" Liam says
"Wha-why would I-" he snatches my phone from my hand quickly
"Mark. It's Liam. Listen Niall needs this time off. And you're going to give it to him!" He pauses "because the threat of us leaving Modest! is still very much on the table. If Niall doesn't get this time off we'll find another management company that can give it to him!" I sit up shocked at Liam's words
He pauses listening to Mark. He smiles giving me a thumbs up meaning he said yes.
"Yes!" I say excitedly
"Yep alright. Thank you. " and with that Li hangs up
"Oh my gosh how did you do that!? And what threat to leave Modest! are you talking about?" I ask him confused
"When Louis and I went to London to get Daniel back Louis told Mark if he didn't hire Daniel back we would walk" he shrugs smiling
