Pulling out a leather jacket from the rack, my eyes scanned the cloth while I gritted my teeth together. The air condition was tickling my bare back that my low tank top was showing. Shivering from the breeze, I turned around to look around the store and also to see where Laura was.
I had agreed to take her shopping since she was having a hard time of recovering from her ex-boyfriend's actions. It had took my every power cell living in my body to stop her from revenging him. It would've been a serious mistake. I just didn't believe in revenging. The person who did wrong should realize the mistake they've done themselves instead of making them feel bad. If the person doesn't realize it or care, something's wrong with them, not you. But Laura... She was so determined to do that. She was so heartbroken and I couldn't blame her. I would be too. It was more than fine to feel heartbroken. It was more than fine to feel like you could blame them forever. But don't lower yourself on their level. Life's too short for that.
"I'm not feeling this at all." Laura appeared next to me, sighing with a dropped expression on her face.
Her eyes were covered by her dark sunglasses and her posture was bad. This girl had been crying, a lot.
"No, don't get depressed. Help me find an outfit for tonight. I can't look bad and I trust your fashion sense." I tried to cheer her up.
She loved makeovers.
About a week ago Justin had informed me that tonight would be an event where he was going to be honored for helping the most new artists to get on the surface of popular music. He didn't really like to brag about his career and who he has helped and made music with. It was his passion, not only just a job. He didn't care that he got a lot of money from that, as long as he could help artists make the kind of music they want to do. So that was why he at first didn't want to go to that event, but I kind of talked him to go accept the honorary award. He needed to do know that his work was appreciated. But there was a slight problem. We were attending the event as a couple and I had nothing to wear. Everyone from the music industry was going to be there. Everyone rich. So I needed to look good and elegant and effortless and... Too much. I had nothing to wear.
"Oh yeah, you had that. Why can't I be a singer or a song writer? It would make everything easier." Laura whined as she leaned her elbow on a rack.
I giggled and put the leather jacket I was holding back on its place.
"How so?" I asked her, slowly walking through the narrow aisle, searching for a decent looking dress or at least something.
We weren't in one of those normal clothing stores where you go buy a pair of black jeans. It was kind of a high-end store. So if you were looking for an event look, you were going to find it from here. Everything was so fancy and carefully put on the mannequins. I was literally scared to touch anything every time I came here.
"Well, you're rich and you don't have to worry about rent and other money problems and... things." Laura listed, nibbling a skirts hem that was on a mannequin.
I shook my head, blowing air out of my nose.
"It's not like that. Justin has to think about money and rent, but he doesn't stress about them. It's not like he's a millioner who doesn't have to worry about money. We all worry about it." I told her bluntly, dropping my shoulders.
She made it seem like Justin was a superman who has so much money that he even showers in it. No, not at all. He was just like everyone else with maybe a little better financial status,
"He must buy you a lot of things."
"He used to but I told him not to. Flowers from time to time." I answered, shrugging.
