Everything happened so fast. Or actually fast enough to not have enough time to react and slow enough for me to realize what was happening. I felt like I was watching a movie, it didn't feel real at all. At first I was running down the stairs behind Ava and the second thing I see is her running to cross the street but I guess she didn't even look at both directions before stepping her feet on the road. My mom was almost quick enough to ask her to stop running but it wasn't enough. At this point Ava didn't listen to anybody when in reality it could've saved her what was going to happen next.
"Ava!" mom squealed as the grey car hit Ava on the lower part of her torso and also her waist.
Out of breath I stopped on my tracks to witness what the hell just happened. My heart sank.
Fortunately the car wasn't speeding so when it hit its brakes the crash wasn't violent and huge. But it did make Ava to fall backwards and land on her bottom.
"Ava!" I basically growled as soon as I realized what just happened and what I needed to do.
I ran to the road as fast as I could and straight to my girlfriend who was now half-laying on the concrete. The man who drove the grey Volvo got out of his car, just as scared as me and my mom were. And Ava too.
"I am so sorry! I swear I didn't see her running to the road!" he started panicking, with his hands behind his neck, walking around in circles.
I grabbed Ava from her arms and carefully helped her get up. She was conscious and seeing clearly what was happening. But the look on her face was blank. I wasn't sure if she really understood that she had just got hit by a car.
"Baby, look at me! Are you okay?" my throat was dry and closing up but I had to make sure she was fine.
"And she's pregnant?! Oh my God." I could hear the man basically punishing himself for almost running over my girlfriend with his car.
"I-I think I'm fine. I'm fine." Ava looked confused and her gaze was wandering everywhere.
She wasn't fine.
"Y-Your dress. It's turning red." the man behind me commented.
And just when I was about to look at him and ask what the hell was he talking about, Ava started squealing.
When I tell you, I have never been that scared in my whole life, I really mean it. The moment I heard her open her mouth and that earpiercing squeal sliced through my heart, I wanted to rewind my life and stop myself from doing everything I had ever done to her. I wished I never heard her scream like that.
"I'm bleeding! Justin, help! I'm bleeding!" Ava shrieked and took the tightest grip from both of my hands as she looked down at her white silky dress.
My breathing haltered when I looked down too. The concrete underneath us started disappear from the pool of blood covering it and Ava's dress' bottom had a large red stain that lnly grew bigger and bigger.
"Please, help me Justin! Please!"
I froze, completely. I know I shouldn't have. But the amount of stress, the amount of heartbreak and arguing finally broke me and I froze completely.
