Zion and Kanda released a heavy sigh, dropping both of their heads and knowing that this definitely wasn't a good start to their long mission overseas.
Xael's brow twitched irritably as she tried to find a way to respond. All positive first thoughts she had of the young man disappeared as soon as he spoke his first word to her.
The red-haired boy walked up to her and took her smaller hands within his, looking down on her with a greedy eye as she tried to shrink away, her legs wobbling slightly. But her brown eyes couldn't leave his face. "Hello, beautiful lady." He beamed. "Now, whose presence do I have the honor of being in?"
"E-eh..." She stuttered uncomfortably.
"Don't scare her, Lavi." Zion intervened, frowning at his outspokenness.
"I'm just trying to get to know her." He hummed playfully. "After all, we will be spending months together on a mission."
"Did you miss the part where I was appointed the team leader?" The brunette tested the tall man, her voice growing increasingly irritated.
"Is that so?"
Zion nodded with pride.
"Good for you. Our little Zion is growing up." He teased. "Well, that is, if you're even an adult, yet." He suggested, raising a brow to get a rise out of the girl.
"Shut up!" She huffed, knowing that he was enjoying her frustration.
Behind them, Kanda clicked his tongue. "Leave it." He ordered bitterly.
Lavi stepped back, his mischievous grin still present, and raised his hands to feign innocence. "Yeah, yeah."
Zion released another sigh having finally calmed the flirtatious red-head. "Xael, this is Lavi. Lavi, Xael Lia. She's from Central."
"Ooh, is the Vatican nice?" Lavi asked, although not particularly caring for an answer.
"I'm sure you've been there, Bookman Junior." Xael retorted.
"So you know who I am?" He seemed amused.
"I know stuff." She huffed with pride.
"Impressive." He sung.
"Anyway," Zion began, trying to draw the attention back to the task at hand. "We should pack. We'll be gone for a while."
With that, the tension dissolved.
"Let's meet back at the gates in three hours. Don't pack too heavy." Thus, the boys returned to their designated rooms as she acknowledged the newest member of their Exorcist team. "Lenalee has a room organized for you, so I'll take you there for a little while to organize your belongings. Sorry that we have to leave as soon as you get here."
Xael shook her head, grinning gently and possessing a more open and friendly aura compared to when she interacted with Lavi. "It's already more interesting than being back at Central."
"Really? I couldn't imagine Central being boring or anything."
"It's not that Central is boring, it's more like people at Central are boring." The shorter girl chuckled.
Zion laughed along with her. "I'm glad that you're looking at those two positively. Although, I can't say that positivity will last too long."
Finally, the two girls came to a door without a name plaque on it, merely having it's designated numbers on the placard next to the frame. "This will be your room. Mine is just three doors to the left if you need anything. My name is on the door."
