"Guys!" Xael was bubbling with excitement as she tightly held onto the flyer in her hands.
"It's gotta be something good if you're that excited." Lavi commented.
Her brown eyes glistened, and the boy was exactly correct. "There's a festival in the town just a few minutes from here. There's gonna be fireworks, and food, and music!"
Kanda sneered.
But Zion joined in on the excitement. "Let's go!"
"Now to find cool outfits!" Xael cheered.
"Yes! Let's go, now!" The brunette agreed.
"You guys are way too excited." Lavi observed, but still wore a friendly smile.
Kanda rolled his eyes. "I don't even want to go to this thing."
"Well, fine then." Zion huffed.
"If you two don't want to go, then we'll just go ourselves." Xael also pouted.
"No, no. We'll go." Lavi beamed. "It sounds like fun."
Kanda sighed deeply. "If Zi is going, then I have no choice." Still, he smirked when he caught the said girl's eye.
The girls grabbed each other's hands and looked at each other with overbearing excitement. "We should go find traditional Maori clothing, and dress up like a villager..." Xael trailed, catching her breath amidst her enthusiasm.
"We can get all of the accessories, too. Oh my gosh, this is going to be so cool!" The taller girl added. "When is it?!"
"Tomorrow night." The black-haired girl answered. "That gives us enough time to find something to wear."
"Tomorrow, we're completing the mission." Lavi reminded.
"We can do the mission, then go to the festival." Zion shrugged as both girls were unfazed.
"We're going to be exhausted. And if by some unfortunate circumstance, one of us gets hurt..." The red-haired man trailed.
But still, the girls were determined as Xael said, "We'll be fine. The fireworks don't start until midnight, so we'll have time to rest. It's not like we'll be doing the mission at night. Come on, Exorcist one-o-one."
"Newbie." Kanda scoffed.
"Rude." The girl huffed. "Anyway, Zion, let's go look for clothes to wear!"
"Sounds fantastic!" The brunette agreed.
And within minutes, the girls were off to the town, once again leaving the two young men alone together.
Kanda's eyes were narrowed in a frustrated expression, and Lavi commented, "You really don't want to go to this festival, do you?"
"It's not that." The black-haired man shook his head. "Have you made a move on Xael, yet?"
He responded with a chuckle. "Where did that come from?"
"You're the one who wanted to have man-to-man conversations." The Japanese boy said in disgust.
"You know just as well as I do that anything to do with that is forbidden."
"What exactly is your job?" Kanda asked rhetorically.
"To record history as it happens, as unbiased as possible." Lavi answered matter-of-factly.
"You practically have the course of the world in your hands."
