Grateful to what they had done, the restaurant where the Exorcists planned on eating provided them with the finest New Zealand cuisine and didn't ask for money in return. The four also had villagers coming up to them and offering them various goods or valuables of theirs, which was politely declined.

Kanda and Lavi even had young women swooning over them, although due to Kanda's bitter attitude, he quickly lost them. Lavi, however, was too flirtatious and enjoyed the attention far too much, blowing kisses and flashing celebrity-quality white smiles. After a while, the two girls and Kanda got tired of this.

Kanda and Zion headed back to the cabin after the brunette grabbed a raspberry-covered cake -- which seemed to be a popular treat of the country. Although, Xael had asked to come with them, Zion encouraged her to stay with Lavi.

Still, she grew extremely irritated over all of the attention her friend was getting, and how he seemed to bask in it joyfully.

But he took note of this as she folded her arms over her chest and tapped her foot. So, he turned to the girls that were currently beside him and hummed, "Sorry, my lady over there is getting bothered." He gestured to the female Exorcist.

"Your lady?" One of the girls asked, seeming disappointed. "Do you have a girlfriend?"

"Sure." He half-answered.

"What?!" Xael huffed, overhearing the conversation. "I'm no-"

Lavi placed a hand over her mouth and gently pushed her away, walking with her and leaving his small fan-club. "Bye, girls!" He sung flirtatiously as he led the short girl towards the cabin.

Once they were far enough so that her protests couldn't be heard by the villagers, he released the dark-haired girl who glared at him bitterly. "What was that for?!"

"I wonder." He -- once again -- half-answered.

"I'm not your girlfriend." She huffed.

"So defensive." He acted hurt in a teasing way, then brushed off her irritation. "I was just getting tired of them. The best way to get a girl off your back is to tell them that you're taken." He stuck his tongue out playfully. "You're pretty enough to pass as my girlfriend."

"Pretty enough." She repeated and scoffed, then mumbled under her breath, "I'm way out of your league."

"Don't get too ahead of yourself, now."

"Who's the one getting ahead of themselves?"

Lavi released a chuckle. "I'm not allowed to have a girlfriend anyway."

"You're not 'allowed to?'" Her interest was piqued." Who says and what did they do to make you listen to them?" She raised a suspicious brow.

"It's not like anyone told me to." He defended. "It's just a rule."

"A rule of what?"

"A Bookman rule."

"That sounds lonely."

"Well, we need to be as unbiased as possible while we record history as it happens."

"Yet, you are an Exorcist."

"True. But for the last war, we were on the opposite side, against the Black Order."

"So, are you not really supposed to have friends either?" Xael wondered out loud.

"Technically." He answered, almost unsure if himself.

"You don't sound too sure about that."

Lavi released a heavy sigh. "Sometimes, you can't really control what your heart decides to feel."
