Dan let me into his flat. He had dark circles under his eyes and they were red, presumably because he was crying, based on the tears stains streaking down his cheeks and the single tear dangling from his jaw. He was shirtless wearing only his boxers. I took this chance to look him up and down before he threw his arms around me and sobbed into my chest. I put my arms around him and pulled him further into my chest.

I felt selfish and inconsiderate for thinking of how hot he was without a shirt rather than trying to sympathize with how he was feeling right now.

I cold feel his back. It was hot and sticky, like he had been having a bad dream. It was probably his reason for calling me at three in the morning. I sighed and tucked my chin into his back, hugging him better. I felt him subtly pulling away and loosened my grip on him.

"I'm so glad you're here, Phil. It's just that with my mum in a coma and all I've been having bad dreams about her dying and all this other stuff and it's just been so much for me to handle--"

"Dan," I said, interrupting him. He looked down at his feet before looking back up to answer.

"Yes?" He said, fiddling with the hem of his boxers. Oh, I would kill to be able to get them off him right about now---Phil, stop thinking dirty thoughts when your friend is upset!

"It's fine," I said, putting an arm on his sticky shoulder. "It's fine, I'm here for you. You can cry all you want and I'll help you get through it. You were always here for me, so I'll stick by your side. We've got this." He sniffled a bit, looking back up at me and bringing me in for another hug. I wrapped my arms back around him gladly, putting my head on top of his. I couldn't help but inhale the scent of his hair. It smelled nice, just with a bit of sweat mixed in, which was understandable. Boy, do I sound creepy.

"Phil?" He asked. I hummed in answer, waiting in anticipation to hear what he had to say. "W-would you mind...maybe...I would like it if you'd..."

"What is it, Dan? What do you need?" I urged. He sighed in frustration and tucked his head further into my chest.

"I know it sounds kind of weird, but can you sleep with me?" He asked, not moving his head from where he had put it previously. My breath hitched. I didn't know what to do. Of course, I would jump at the chance, seeing as I did like him a lot. But what if did something I would regret? It would surely be awkward when we woke up. But Dan needs me right now. Fuck it.

"Okay, Dan. Whatever you need," I said calmly, my heart rate slowing down in relief. I could feel him smiling against my chest, and so I couldn't help but smile too.

"We should probably close the door and get to my bedroom..." he said, looking up to me. The moment seemed to last so long that I failed to notice that we were still embracing in his front doorway, our murmurs probably disturbing one of his neighbours' sleep.

"Oh, right, yeah," I said, releasing him and turning around to gently shut the door.

"Sorry I'm indecent. This is how I sleep. I don't know about you, but if you need anything just tell me, I'll get it for you," he said, leading me to his room.

"Hey! That's my job," I said, fake pouting, making Dan giggle a bit. I smiled. It made me happy to know that I could at least bring a little bit of joy to Dan's otherwise horrible everyday life. "It's fine, Dan. I came in my pajamas. I wanted to get to you as soon as possible so I didn't change," I said. Oh, God, did that sound a little too cheesy? Ugh, it's too late to take it back now. He smiled.

"Nice to know you're eager, Philly. So you don't mind it if I sleep like this?" He said, gesturing to his lack of clothes. I blushed a bit, but waved it off.
