"Why is life so complicated?"
Marinette groaned as she stared at her Chemistry homework, not understanding the slightest thing she was supposed to do.
"This is what happens when you don't go to school for a week." She whispered, resting her head on her books, and sighed.
Yes, she hadn't go to school for a whole week, because she was sick.
But she did go on Monday, and it was a living hell indeed.
So much homework and new subjects in almost all of her classes, wherever she went, there was always someone asking if she was feeling better (which she was very grateful for, but it got really tiring at one point), and the worst of all;
Adrien was one of the people that did not ask if she was feeling better.
"C'mon Marinette, don't look so down!" Tikki said, smiling sympathetically at the girl as she reached for another cookie on the small plate Marinette had brought her.
"But Tikki, I don't know how to do this!" Marinette argued, pointing at her homework with a slightly irritated face.
"I don't even care that Adrien didn't even notice I was not there for a whole week, I'm more worried about the fact that I don't understand this subject!" The girl explained, sighing afterwards.
"Well... Why not ask Alya for help? Maybe she knows how to solve this!" Tikki suggested, a slight pout on her red face.
"I already tried but she--"
A tapping on her window made her shut up, as she looked up and fought the urge to roll her eyes.
Chat Noir was leaning over her window, with his signature grin present on his face as he stared down at her expectantly.
She got up from her chair, and walked over to her window, opening it.
"Chat." The boy's name left her lips the second their eyes met. "May I help you?"
"My, my Princess!" He grinned again, tilting his head to the side slightly. "I just dropped by to check on you!"
"Yeah well, are you done?" Her tone showed just how annoyed she was, which made Chat frown.
"Am I... Am I really annoying you that much?" He asked quietly, still staring at her.
Marinette blushed slightly and her expression softened as she looked down.
"No, no, I'm sorry... It's just that I missed a whole week of school, and I'm trying to do my homework, but I don't understand the first thing about it."
After she was done talking, she gave him a small, tense smile as his frown stayed still on his face and guilt started building up in the pit of his stomach.
Was that why everyone kept asking her how she was during school?
Was that why Alya was more protective and attentive of Marinette during the day?
Adrien felt terrible. How in the hell did he not notice that Marinette, out of all people, wasn't present for a whole week?!
A small sigh escaped his lips as he also looked down.
An idea popped in his mind and he quickly looked up, to find her already looking at him.
There was a way he could make it up to her... Well, kinda.
"What subject?" He asked blankly as she gave him a confused look.
"... Excuse me?" The girl asked slowly, after some time of trying to proceed what he had just asked.
"What subject is your homework about?" He questioned her again, crossing his arms in front of his chest.
"Uh, Chemistry." The girl nodded, looking at him suspiciously. "Why?"
Giving her a full teeth showing smile, Chat waved his hand in the air, signaling her to go back inside.
Still confused, Marinette slowly stepped her way out of her staircase, onto her room floor and saw Chat copying her actions, after closing her window.
Looking around slightly, Marinette sighed in relief as there was no sight of Tikki.
"Where is your homework?" He asked, looking around her room.
Nodding her head in her desk's direction, Marinette made her way towards it, sighing slightly.
As Chat followed her, he couldn't help but smile, noticing his posters hanging on her wall.
Looking at Marinette again, Chat saw her already seating on her chair with a troubled look on her face as she stared at, what he presumed was her homework, in front of her.
He stood behind her, looking over her shoulder at the paper. A grin made its way upon his face as he picked the pencil up.
"This is really easy Princess! In no time, you will ace it with my help!" Chat informed her, smiling happily which she couldn't help but return with a less cheerful smile.
The boy leaned over her shoulder, starting to explain how she was supposed to do those problems.
Marinette was indeed listening to him, and was very grateful as she was starting to understand that subject better than before.
But she could not totally concentrate since the way he was so close to her, made her head spin.
One hour and half later, it was already 1am as they finished her homework.
"Wow, Chat!" the girl exclaimed, looking at him with excitement. "Thank you so much! I understand this now, thanks to you!"
A faint blush appeared on his face, but he decided to ignore it and smiled at her.
"Glad to hear that, Princess!" He told her sincerely, putting the pencil down. "If you have more trouble with school, don't hesitate to yell for me!"
She let out a laugh just as he winked.
Marinette opened her mouth to answer, but instead, a yawn left her lips.
Chat chuckled slighly, and crunched down in front of her.
"You're tired uh? C'mon, I'll help you to your bed." He offered gently, smiling sweetly at her.
Aaand, his Adrien side was showing.
Marinette smiled sheepishly at him, before standing up at the same time as him.
Chat held out his hand for her as she took it gratefully, and he led both of them to her bed.
She was already in her pajamas which was good, since he didn't really wanna... Undress and dress her... Yeah, that'd be awkward.
Pulling the sheets up for her, he watched with gentle eyes as she got in bed, hugging her pillow slightly.
He chuckled a little, covering her and leaned down, kissing her temple tenderly.
"Good night, Princess." He whispered, turning around and walking towards her staircase.
"Good night... Kitty." She mumbled tiredly, watching him climb up the stairs with tired eyes.
He glanced at her for the last time, before opening the window and took off into the night just as she fell asleep.
