CALLIE POV:

Once we were in the parking lot we got stopped by some random boy he was intimidating. he said " hello lux, nerds, who's the new girl?" Lux looked pissed, but she ignored him and kept walking " hey max who's he?" I whispered. "His name is Trey and he's an ass. Just ignore him okay?" She replied. I kept walking with my new friends until Trey ran up to lux grabbing her arm in the process.
That set lux off she ripped her arm out of his grasp and pushed him. Trey grabbed her again and said "listen bitch when I ask you a question you answer me! You understand?!"
The second those words left his mouth it's like a fire was lit inside of me. I had to defend lux! I couldn't hold my tongue any longer!
"Hey fuckface! Why don't you let go of my friend and get the hell away from us! She obviously doesn't want to talk to you! Take the hint!" After I said that everyone froze. They looked completely shocked, Trey was furious! He let go of lux and made his way over to me. But I wasn't scared anymore I was pissed. I knew I needed to use a little magic to make him go away and stay away, so the second he grabbed my arm I went to work. I was just going to cast a simple spell on him one that would make him feel uncomfortable around me and my friends. Trey said "what did you say to me? Do you know who you're talking to?!" I replied with a spell. Which to anyone who isn't a witch, sounds like mumbling, so I knew I would be safe to cast it.
After casting the spell on Trey he said " I'm sorry Lux I'll leave you guys alone from now on." And walked away quickly. Lux, Gabe, and Max looked at me; confused as hell. Lux spoke up first " Callie what did you say to him?" She looked a little angry which I didn't understand, but I guess it was just from Trey. " I just told him he was being a dick. No big deal really." She looked unconvinced, but smiled after a minute which put me at ease. Why does lux make me feel like this? I only met her a few hours ago, but she makes me feel safe. It's weird! After all that excitement we got in Lux's car and they showed me around town. I was kind of surprised that it was so small! The only places entertaining to go were the movie theater, a coffee shop, a diner, and a bar! It was a pretty quick tour. On the ride back to my apartment lux asked me a question, "hey Callie when we get to your apartment do you think we could talk for a minute?" I was kind of nervous. Why does she want to talk to me? Is she mad? What did I do? "Of course we can!" I replied nerves evident in my voice and with that lux sped to my apartment.

LUX POV:
I need to talk to Callie. That's all I could think after our encounter with Trey. We are on the way to Callie's apartment now and I plan on having a conversation with her once we arrive. I mind linked max and Gabe asking them to give us our space, they knew I needed some one on one time with my mate.

After a short ride we pulled up to the only apartment complex in town and Callie and I got out. " so what did you want to talk about lux?" She asked right as we stepped out of the car. "Can we go somewhere a little more private?" I needed to talk to Callie without max and Gabe eavesdropping. " oh sure do you want to go into my apartment?" When she said that jetta jumped with joy and started saying the dirtiest things. Damn wolf! I blocked her out quickly " um sure if you don't mind" I said a little too quickly, but Callie just giggled and lead the way.
Once we got into her apartment she asked me again " so what did you want to talk about?" My heart was racing and her smell was intoxicating, but I needed to focus!
" why did you yell at Trey like that Callie? You didn't need to do that." I asked in a small voice, I spoke just so she could hear me. I didn't want to scare her away.
She looked a little surprised at my question. "I just didn't like the way he spoke to you. I know I shouldn't have lashed out like that. I'm sorry"
She was looking at her feet clearly ashamed of her actions, but I couldn't help but smile at how my mate had defended me.
"Callie you don't need to apologize. I just wanted to know why you did it." My voice was soft and full of emotion. I had unknowingly made my way over to Callie and now we were inches apart.

I took a chance hoping she wouldn't push me away. I slowly wrapped my arms around her waist pulling her into me enjoying the sparks that I could feel from her touch. She gasped obviously feeling them too. She wrapped her arms around my neck resting her head on my shoulder. I relaxed because she hadn't pushed me away! I leaned in and whispered "thank you Callie." I could hear her heart rate increase and she shuddered. Letting me know she could feel the mate bond.

I smiled and released her from the embrace. "I should go" I really didn't want to go, but I know max and Gabe would be getting restless.
Callie looked at me for a second before she nodded "I'll see you tomorrow lux." The way she said my name sent shivers down my spine.
I made my way out of her apartment and got in the car feeling like I was on cloud nine.
