When Bucky woke up, Willow was asleep in her wheelchair. Bucky felt like he'd been hit by a truck, he was sore all over. He let out an involuntary gasp of pain as he tried to sit up, this woke Willow.

 "Congrats Buck, you're awake."

"What happened?"

"You had a fever, but I think it's passed now. While I have your attention, why don't you tell me what's going on inside your beaten up brain." Willow's tone left no room for argument.

"I'm trying to remember things, but there's something inside my head that doesn't want me to." It was hard for Bucky to explain, he didn't have the words to describe what was going on inside his head.

 "Like a wall?"

"Like a wall that electrocutes you when you touch it."

"Wow, that's seriously messed up Buck."

"I'm trying to remember things, but I can't choose what I remember. I want to remember the person Steve remembers, but instead I keep seeing my time with Hydra and the KGB."

"That's rough. I can't tell you I know what you're going through, I've never had my memory erased. But I have been trapped inside my own mind."

"I can't remember, I want to but I can't," Bucky said, running his good hand through his tangled hair. "I just can't."

"I can't feel my legs," Willow said flatly.

Bucky looked at her in confusion, "What?"

"I thought we were stating things that were obvious," Willow replied sarcastically, "If you could remember, you wouldn't be here."

Bucky appreciated Willow's light hearted attitude to everything. He was going to say something snarky in reply, when a stabbing pain shot through his head. Falling to his knees, he let out a cry of pain, clutching his head. It was like there was a wrecking ball bouncing around inside his brain, threatening to crack his skull.

"Bucky? Bucky!?" Willow had one of her hands on his shoulder, Bucky tried to focus on the sound of her voice. Tried to focus on that instead of the images that were pouring into his brain, but he couldn't block them out.

Bucky rolled up into a ball, trying to shield his head, flashes of agony stabbing his mind. He stayed like that for several hours, just curled up in a ball on the floor groaning in agony. Every time he thought the pain had stopped, it came back, worse than ever.

At some point during that day, Bucky was vaguely aware of Willow somehow managing to slide out of her wheelchair and sit down on the floor next to him. She sat there, awkwardly rubbing his back, as though unsure of what exactly to do. As she gingerly patted Bucky's back, she began humming a song, Bucky didn't recognize the tune or the language.

"zimné hory. jarná lúka. bublajúce potôčiky. strieborné prúdy."
