LOCKWOOD

"Lockwood!" Sounded off in the distance. I tried to grasp onto the voice, but I felt myself falling the opposite way. Hands grasped my shoulders, shaking me to reality. The dark clouds that fogged my brain floated and disappeared, leaving me with my own thoughts. My eyes opened.

Sunlight was peaking through the blinds and highlighting dust particles. Lucy's face hovered over mine, her eyes filling with relief. Her hands loosed their grip on my arms, sliding up and wrapping around my neck. She pulled me into a hug and started crying.

George bursted into the room with Holly but stopped dead in his tracks. He stared, perplexed.
"Your ok." He breathed and bent down, hands on his knees, gasping for air.

"Oh thank goodness." Holly said rushing over. She put her hand on my forehead. Then she tried to comfort Lucy and pry her off but she wouldn't budge. I wrapped my arms around her, holding her close. She sat up and wiped her eyes with her sleeves.

"What happened?" I asked, voice very groggy.
"There was a pipe in your wall that broke, leaking carbon monoxide into your room. It would have been fine but the door was closed and you were breathing it in all night. When we woke up, we got a call from DEPRAC. Lucy went up to get you but you.... Y-you." He looked away.
"You weren't breathing." Lucy finished. She took my hand in hers. "Or at least we thought. George came up and tried doing CPR but noticed you were weezing. Thats when we started shaking you. Im so sorry." She broke down again, covering her face.
"You have nothing to be sorry for." I said. She tried to smile. I sat up and leaned against the headboard. I lead Lucy over to me and hugged her. George made his way to the door. "Holly do you know the number for poison control. We need to have this pipe checked out." They left. Me and Lucy were alone. She looked at me. Her eyes were tinged with pink and slightly swollen.

"I was so scared your everything to me Lockwood. I don't know what I would have done." She looked away biting her lip.

"Lucy," I put my hand to her cheek. She looked at me without turning her head. I made her turn fully towards me. "Im sorry for giving you quite the fright. But it wasn't all rainbows and butterflies for me either. I had a horrible night terror. And I thought I lost you." She put her hand over mine and my heart beat kicked up. I had of course grown quite attached to Lucy over the years and almost losing her was the last slap in the face I needed to realize I was in love. All those nights of tossing and turning, thinking about literally everything she was. And when ever she touched something I had to come back and touch it later. Watching her in complete concentration while drawing or thinking about a case.

I was in love with this girl. And I could never let her go.

I slowly began closing the space between us without much thought. She stared at me with wide eyes, then slowly began closing them. At last our lips met.
