Hey Promise Makers! Valentine's Day is close. Don't worry, I'm celebrating it by being single. I'm just telling you that I have an idea for another story. Actually, it's an old idea that I never went through. I might upload when Fifty Shades Darker is out. ❤️ Good book and good movie.

Reese

When do you plan on coming home?

I sigh. How many days has it? Three? Four? I can't even remember anymore.

I shut my flip phone.

Barry's not going to be happy. Or Tracie or Xavier or the whole damn Mason Family when they know that I have to come back home.

"Ree!" I hear the ding of the bell. I turn around and take the tray of steak, iced tea, and mashed potatoes on the side by the counter. Jada's smiling at me from the kitchen. "You okay? You seem paler than ever, Honey."

I nod, forcing a smile. "Yeah. I'm good." I can smell the delicious steak below my nose. "What table is this?"

Jada shakes her head. "Not table. That's for the guy seated on the third booth. Make sure to tell him that the mashed potatoes are complimentary."

"Wow," I beam. "You've never given anyone complimentary dishes before, Jada. Who's this one? Your special guy?"

She laugh. "He is close to me but no. He's too young for me. Now go, Ree! The steak might get cold and he might get that free."

I join her laughter. "Okay, okay. Keep your hair on."

I carry out the tray with my palm, making sure that it's balanced properly. I walk past the booths, seeing a guy wearing an unbuttoned flannel on top of his grey shirt. He's clasping his hands as he stare out the window.

I give the costumer my award winning smile. "Nice choice of place to sit in. The view out is always beautiful. You can see the kids playing outside." I place the iced tea in front of him. "Okay, here is your large iced tea, steak, and these mashed potatoes are complimentary by the owner of the establishment. Will that be all?"

The guy turns his head to face me, his mouth open and ready to say something. But he stops the minute our eyes met.

Ethan Mitchell is here, sitting, and seeing me in a waitress uniform.

I feel the walls around me building up higher. "Will that be all?" I repeat, the annoyance on my tone is evident but I remain calm even though I want to sock him in the eye.

He coughs, clearing his throat and then pulls the plate closer to him. "Um, tell Jada thanks. Please."

"Will do," I beam, hugging the dirty tray to my chest.

I'm about three steps in walking away when Ethan calls out my name. "Reese!" I spin my heels around, facing his sincere smile at me. "Will you join me to eat? Please?"

"I'm sorry but I have things to一"

"Of course, she can!" Jada's arm is around my shoulder all of a sudden. "Honey's been working all day long. I'm sure she could use the break and the company around!"
