I tried my best to look interested sa pinag-uusapan nina Ate Ella, Therese and Jia. They were talking about baking. Maagang natapos ang mga klase namin and we were just waiting for 4:00 to strike at maghahanda na kami para sa afternoon training namin.

"Just last weekend, nag-bake kami ni Pauline ng Peach tart and I swear masarap." She showed us the picture. Naalala ko tuloy 'yung batchmate kong si Rex Intal. Favorite n'ya 'yung peach tart and from the looks of it, I'm sure magugustuhan n'ya 'to. "It's actually vegan, so walang eggs, milk and honey used. So I didn't quite expect na ma-eenjoy ko 'yung tart."

"What did you use for the glaze? Surely hindi honey kasi vegan nga." Actually, sa aming tatlo nina Ate Ella, si Jia talaga ang pinaka-may sense ng pagka-foody. Si Ate Ella, kumakain lang 'yan- siguro nga, foody in a sense na she'd go to anywhere na may good food, ako I go to food places na may interesting setting pero si Jia, gusto n'ya talaga malaman kung paano ginagawa ang mga pagkain na natitikman n'ya. Tapos, kapag may time s'ya, gagayahin n'ya ang mga 'yon at ipapatikim n'ya sa'min ni Ate Ella.

"Maple syrup and Vanilla. Bea gave me this vanilla extract her mom bought from Mexico, I swear it's to die for. Sabi rin kasi ni Bea, the best vanilla extracts are produced there." Therese's enthusiasm was suddenly shushed down nang ma-realize n'ya what she just injected in the conversation.

"But anyway, ang sarap nitong pie na bnake mo. Thank god kasi medyo nagsasawa na rin ako sa vegan pies sa bahay. Thank you, Ate Ella!" Therese was already on her 2nd slice of Ate Ella's Walnut Cream Tart. Oo, fam. Tama narinig n'yo, Donya Ells baked something. This is so random of her. I asked her why the sudden effort, she just answered, "I just think my friends needed cheering up." And before I knew it, she was serving me the first slice of her confection.
