"Stay here." Lexie ordered me and she didn't look like she was afraid of this situation at all. Alexis not being scared made me even more scared.
She stepped out into the hallway and I could hear her quietly knock on the room opposite us but I didn't hear a reply. Alexis stepped back into our room and closed the door. "I'm pretty sure our entire dorm building was going to that social event." I mentioned as the sweat was breaking off my face as I just remembered.
"Everyone?" Alexis asked in a whisper while putting her gun away and looking out the window again.
"Yeah, everyone was going on about it but I knew you wouldn't want to go so I stayed in." She nodded at me and I was pacing the floor. She had a gun! A real life shooting gun that kills people!
I shook the thought away and sighed. I couldn't die, not when my life had just begun. "You stay here," Alexis said to me, "I need to find out what is going on."
I shook her head. "No, please don't leave me."
Alexis went up to me and took my hand and squeezed it. "I'll only be a few minutes, we can't stay in here forever. I'll come back for you, I promise." She looked me in the eyes and I nodded as she let go of my hand.
Lexie took out her very scary gun again and her flashlight to guide her. She reopened the door and closed it behind her. I was left alone, in a dark room with nobody to protect me. I didn't have a weapon to use or a flashlight to see who was coming for me.
I paced around the room frantically, waiting for Alexis to come and get me. I wished I went with her, I didn't care about the horrors that awaited us downstairs. I contemplated some more, waiting and waiting but Alexis didn't show. My fear rose and I shook my head and closed my eyes. Alexis could be hurt or really badly injured and I was just standing in here doing nothing.
I walked up to the door and slowly opened and closed it quietly, leaving a small crack that let what was left of the sun shine through into the hallway. I slowly made my way down the hall and tried to open every single door there was, I checked all of the rooms and closed the doors again to make sure nobody was trapped and scared for their life.
I saw nobody. Everyone on this floor must have gone to that social thing and I wanted to check all of the floors but that would take time and I wanted to be back before Alexis got back. She would be extremely pissed if she knew I was roaming these halls alone with no weapon.
I decided to go back, not wanting to go any further. My stomach was turning at the sight of running into somebody who could potentially hurt or kill me. I made my way back and stopped in my tracks when I heard footsteps come my way. It could be Alexis but my instincts kicked in and I ran into the nearest room and closed the door and locked it.
Even if it was Lexie, I was too afraid to face my demons. Oh, how I wished I was on a beach somewhere in a bikini and flirting with some hot guy with a cute accent instead of being here scared for my life.
*Five hours earlier.*
After what felt like an eternity of sitting on the floor, leaning against the door, I decided to face whatever was out there. I stood up, breathed and swung the door open. It was quiet. I looked left and right and see our dorm room's door wide open. I slowly walked to our room to see that I was still alone. Alexis' backpack was missing, her cell phone was missing and her emergency cell phone was missing. She was here and I missed her.
She was looking for me and ready to fight these people. Was she really capable of that? Killing another soul? The Lexie I knew could hurt but not kill. I breathed in and out and rummaged through my draws in my bedside table. I took my cell phone, placed it in my front pocket and I looked in the last draw to find a pair of scissors which could be useful if I was going to go out there alone again.
