This was it. The moment when I finished this once and for all. I tried to hurry, for all I knew he could be hurting Norrie and Cam for even acknowledging me. My heart was partly relieved because Noah, Spencer, Jason and Maggie were safe but I knew I would get shit from my dad about going to face this alone with no backup.
I had a gun, that should be enough.
I could feel my feet hurting from walking too fast and I could feel my leg throb from the stitches. My entire body ached and I wished I could rest but I had to do this. I walked past my dorm building, taking a glimpse at it and never looking back. It was still dark out but I knew where I was going.
I looked up at the sky as I felt a raindrop hit my skin, it felt cold and soothing. I spotted the gym across another empty courtyard. Everything was still and silent and I couldn't help but wondered what would happen in the next few minutes. I took a deep breath and walked across the courtyard to the front of the gym. I headed around the back, slipping into the light which was the only building that was illumined.
I slowly opened the door with a squeak and I flinched at the sound, I didn't plan on walking in like I owned the place. I planned to do this slowly and carefully, I only had one shot at this and if I mucked it up, I was done.
I squinted at the brightness of the place. I would guess he had Norrie and Cam tied to a chair with guns to their heads, waiting for my arrival. I walked past the supply closet Noah trapped me in and I smiled at the memory as I walked in with my hands up and my gun tucked behind my shirt, just in case.
I saw Joe Lock talking with one of his guards, he had a bandaged around his shoulder and he had about five guards surrounding the place with Norrie and Cam in one corner tied with duct tape over their mouths, hands and feet. I got mad as I looked at them, their eyes met mine and relief filled them. Two of the guards noticed me and flung their guns at me, aiming at my head. My hands stayed where they were and I gave them exactly what they wanted.
Me.
Joe locked his eyes with mine, giving me one of his famous smirks. "Well, look who finally showed up. I've been waiting for this moment." He nodded to one of the guards who approached me and felt down my body for any weapons. I didn't show any fear or any knowledge that I had a gun on me but I knew I wouldn't be able to use it.
He felt down my back and his hands touched the gun. He grunted and pulled my shirt out, took my gun and showed it to Lock. He shook his head as the guard went back to his position and placed the gun in his pocket. "I told you to come unarmed."
"And you said you'd let the people in the hall go if I came and here I am." I put my hands to my side and see Norrie and Cam's faces look terrified. I gave them a reassuring nod before my eyes met Lock's again. It made me sick looking at him. "Now, I've kept my promise. Let them go and I'm all yours."
He nodded to one of the guards who walked over to where my two friends sat. He grabbed Cam's arm and lifted him up, he followed the orders and brung Cam to the middle, Cam was limping because of the gunshot to the leg. Norrie tried to scream but it all came out as a muffled sound. Cam looked terrified, like he knew what was going to happen.
He ripped off Cam's duct tape from his mouth, he squinted at the pain. "Lexie, you can't trust them! You can't trust-" His screamed were cut off as Joe walked over and his fist connected with Cam's face. I was about to run over there and beat his head in but I was restrained by more guards who I didn't know were behind me.
I struggled at first, their tight hands wrapped around both of my arms. "You said you wouldn't hurt them! You lying bastard!" I screamed at the top of my lungs, hating every inch of that guy who should've never been born on this earth.
