You didn't expect him to come back after you told him you were mute. Nobody comes back after that. He'll probably be the same. He'll probably leave after he gets tired of being the only one talking.
But you wave anyway.
"Why can't you talk? I mean, what makes you mute?"
You chew the inside of your cheek. There it is.
"I-I didn't mean it like that," Tyler says quickly, once he sees the look on your face.
You look down at your notebook in your lap.
