"I wrote another song."
You look up at Tyler. His hand holds his ukulele and his face holds a frown.
You want to smile, but you can't. Last night was worse than the night before, if that was possible. You stayed late at work again. Not for the extra cash (though that was part of it), but just to get away from your parents.
Tyler sits down, in front of you instead of next to you.
"It's not finished, but..."
Tyler takes a deep breath and starts strumming.
"You are surrounding," he sings, his eyes focused on a patch a grass. "All my surroundings."
You feel the familiar flutter inside that you feel whenever Tyler sings. You don't quite know what the feeling is, but you definitely know it's there.
"Sounding down the mountain range of my left side brain," Tyler closes his eyes, and you can tell how much he loves what he does. Music.
"You are surrounding all my surroundings, twisting the kaleidoscope behind both of my eyes."
He looks up at you, and you see the faintest hint of a smile on his face.
"And I'll be holding on to you."
