Besides the occasional comments about thinking too much, Tyler's okay.
Besides the bruises on your arms, you're okay.
The two of you lean against the tree, sitting closer than you ever have before. Tyler is strumming his ukulele, but no tune in particular. Just playing. Tyler and Josh's show is tonight, and you couldn't be more excited to see them play music again.
You're smiling. Today seems to be better than yesterday. The grass seems greener, the sun seems brighter.
But that's just it.
Everything isn't better, it just seems better.
You have to remind yourself that people like you don't just get good days like this. The universe won't let you be happy. Your own parents won't let you be happy.
It's the calm before the storm.
