"What are you doing here?"
You stare down at the shadow sitting underneath the tree. You can't see who it is since it's so dark, but you can recognize their voice in a heartbeat.
It's Tyler.
"You come here at night too?"
You sit down next to him. It's currently 1:21 a.m. You just got off work. You'd be surprised at how many people actually take advantage of the diner being open 24 hours.
"I'm sorry."
You take his hand and shake your head. He has nothing to be sorry for.
"I just...couldn't sleep." Tyler squeezes your hand tightly. "So I came here. I-I didn't know what else to do. Funny that we ran into each other, huh?"
You nod. You were just walking past the tree, on your way home. You weren't expecting anyone, let alone Tyler, to be in the park at one in the morning.
The two of you sit in silence for a little while. The only lights are that of the city and the moon. The park is far enough away from the city that it's almost completely quiet.
"I'm glad you're here," Tyler says. "I..." He sighs. "I don't like the night."
