Chapter III:
LEO
After we ate dinner I decided to go straight to my cabin and sleep.
To have a little peace of mind but being a demigod, sometimes sleep is the most terrifying thing to do especially when you're in a quest that could mean the end of mankind.
I don't know how long was I out but as soon as I realized I was asleep my nightmare begun.
I was in a familiar place.
The place where I tend to go back though I know it's impossible.
I was back in Ogygia.
I looked around to see if Calypso is there.
The night is quiet. The moon and the stars shine bright across the sky.
I saw Calypso's table. The table used to be in ruins after my crash landing with my improvised helicopter but now it is as good as new. It's as if I never set foot on the island.
It's as if I never set foot on the island.
"No time for tears Valdez. Why are you having this dream anyway?" I tried to stop the tears from falling down my cheeks.
I entered her house but still there's no sign of Calypso.
I tried walking along the shore hoping to see her in my dreams when a sleepy voice started talking.
You wouldn't see her Leo Valdez. This is a vision of the future. The vision of what will happen after I wake. The vision long after I succeeded.
I saw Gaea's sleepy face in the sand.
"What did you do to her?! Where is she?!" I tried containing my anger but I can't.
I never felt so mad in my life. She killed my mom, the only family I had and now she's showing me a vision where I can't find the girl I love.
You know this was coming, Leo. You know that I will win and those who oppose me will die. Neither demigod nor gods will survive Gaea's wrath. You still have time. You can still turn this around, join me and I will let you be with Calypso. Leave your friends and join my army.
I tried throwing her fireballs but nothing seems to affect her. I tried stepping on the sand where her face is but every time I do Gaea's face will just vanish.
"I-will-not-join-your-stupid-army!" with every word that comes out of my mouth is equivalent to one huge fireball that hit Gaea in the face but still it doesn't affect her.
You know your odds, Leo Valdez. You will die.
"You don't need to scare me, Dirt face. I'm already scared. But I need to be brave. We'll finish this quest and I'll find her." Saying that makes me feel stronger and braver. Nothing seems to scare me anymore because I'm already scared to the limit.
After that I saw Gaea's face disappear before my own eyes.
I woke up remembering my dream.
"'... join me and I will let you be with Calypso'" I repeated what Gaea said in my dreams.
NO. I'll keep my promise to Calypso while helping my friends. We will finish this quest. I'm not afraid of Gaea anymore. I have a new found strength and that's her. We'll win. I'll see her again.
