*they were soon outside the rooms his parents live in when they're at the castle, they stand outside together, one really excited, the other really nervous (it doesn't take a lot of brains to figure out which was which), he squeezed her hand and then let it go*
Ben: you ready?
Mal: umm you want me to say yes or tell you the truth?
Ben: you'll be fine
Mal: hopefully
*he smirks at her excitedly and she smiles back a small and nervous smile, Ben knocks on the door*
Bella: who is it?
Ben: it's me mom
Beast: oh Ben, come in
*ben opens the door and steps in, Mal stays hiding behind the still only half open door, shielding her from the view completely*
Ben: hi mom, dad, I...well....I need to talk to you about my relationship with Mal
*having taken him to sound upset instead of nervous which he had suddenly become his parents completely misread the situation and made a big error*
Belle: oh sweetie, it's better you realised now instead of later that it probably wouldn't last with her
Beast: she's just the bad girl infatuation you'll move on, you'll get over it
*ma steps out from behind the door while taking the ring off, the sight of her makes belle gasp and beasts eyes go wide realising the mistake they've just made, Mal takes Ben's hand and puts the ring in it*
Mal: I'm sorry Ben but I can't do this, I knew it would never work, it was silly of me to think it could, I'm sorry
*she kisses him on the cheek as a tear falls from her eye before running out of the room and down the corridor crying*
Ben: Mal wait!
*she just keeps running so he turns back to his parents*
Ben: thanks guys, you know now she may never talk to me again because I swore to her that you wouldn't do something like this and she'll think it's better if we just don't talk, she's not just a phase, she means everything to me! She's the love of my life, I don't care if you believe me or not she is!
Belle: oh Ben in so sorry
Ben: no I'm sorry, sorry that I thought you could at least give her a good chance but you've been biased since day one, I'm sorry that I thought you could just be happy that I'm happy, you act like there'll be another girl that will be better for me but I don't want another girl, I want her, I proposed to her today because I want to be with her for the rest of my life, we were gonna get married but I'll be lucky if she ever even looks at me again because I swore to her this wouldn't happen, I swore you'd changed your view of her, thanks for making me a liar, I told her you'd be happy for us, that you'd accept her, I swore that you really did like her and now that she's got herself convinced you hate her it will be almost impossible to make her change her mind, that doubt will always be there until the back of her mind, she'll probably have herself convinced the whole kingdom hates her because of you, so thanks for that guys, thanks for taking the girl I love more than anything away from me, bye mom, bye dad
*he goes to leave but then turns to take one final shot at them*
Ben: and today is her 19th birthday just incase you forgot so well done ruining that for her just while you're on a roll
*with that he turns and runs after her, belle calls out to him but he just ignores her and keeps running*
Beast: did he just say he proposed?!
Belle: and by the sound of it she said yes
Beast: they're kids!
Belle: so were we
Beast: not that young
Belle: but we hadn't known each other as long
Beast: but that was true love
Belle: and what's to say theirs isn't?
Beast: well just have to wait and see
