Bal: a King and his queen

Announcement

*soon it is time to give their announcement as the ball is coming to an end, this last bit being recorded for the Auradon news network leaves Mal starting to openly freak out*
Ben: you ready?
Mal: if I say no do we still have to do it?
*she chuckles nervously*
Ben: nervous?
Mal: that's an understatement
Ben: we don't have to do this if you don't want to
*she takes a deep breathe and his hands*
Mal: no, I want to, I'm just a little nervous
Ben: okay then let's do this
*she looks down at their hands as he squeezes hers in support and then back up into his eyes, she nods and then they head up to the stage*
Ben: thank you everyone for being here tonight to celebrate this big day, we'd like to make an announcement, this day is an especially big day for us together as we are officially engaged, I know there are some things that may make this seem like maybe not the right choice, our age, male heritage among other things but those are some of the reasons also why it's a great thing, we have thought this through fully and we hope you can all be happy about your future queen
*they look at each other with all the love in the world*
Mal: we're engaged and really happy about it
*theres a small silence and then suddenly the room erupts into cheering, applause and even some whooping from the younger generations, the majority of the older generations (meaning Ben's parents generation and above) remain quiet, a fact which Ben notices but Mal does not at least he doesn't believe she has, so as the kids and actually quite a lot more of the adults than either had expected, they soon stepped off the stage to rejoin the crowd for their final dance*
Ben: we did it
Mal: we did
Ben: they seem to be taking it well
Mal: not everyone, but we can worry about that tomorrow, tonight it's you and me
Ben: of course
*he takes her in his arms for one last slow dance, they share a long and passionate kiss as they start swaying slowly and everything felt like magic, little did they know disaster was coming for them, they turn back to the partners and watch all their friends dancing just as they were with their significant other, Ben pulls her back in for one more quick kiss*
Ben: I get to do that for the rest of my life
Mal: doesn't mean you need to wait
*she goes back in for yet another one, if people didn't know any better (which many of them didn't) they'd just think that they were two horny teenagers who couldn't keep their hands to themselves, maybe they couldn't much longer*
Ben: no regrets?
Mal: never
