The need for Jake to spill his true feelings were like a bottle filled to the brim on a highway; dangerously close to spilling. His heart ached in pain and guilt for leading Jane on like this, but he couldn't help it.
On the date, not much was discussed, it was more of awkward eye contact or unifinished topics that ended with "...so, uh, yeah," and so on. Both had ordered nice meals and secretly agreed that, that was possibly the best part.
"You're not much of the talker you are in school, Jakey." Jane stated, giggling slightly.
"No, no, Janey. I suppose I'm not." Jake peered at his watch and his eyes widened at the time, Jane of course noticing because of his distressed gasp.
"Everything okay, Jake?" Jane curiously question, raising a perfectly shaped eyebrow.
"I forgot I have to pop 'round Roxy's to grab Jade! Gadzooks, but I don't suppose Jade minds a little more time. So, I'm sorry to leave you on such short notice, but-" Jake placed four twenty dollar bills on the table. "I need to go get my little cousin."
On his way out, Jake shouted that he enjoyed the date and time flies when you're having fun. Truth is, time was slow and painful.
Ring ring... Ring ring... Ri-
"English speaking, what's up?" Jake said as he put the phone to his ear.
"Wow, you really have to state what language you speak at the start of each call? Do I not have a Caller ID for fuck's sake, Jake." Dirk replied, most likely rolling his eyes.
"Sorry, mate."
"How'd the date go?"
"How do you know it ended?" Jake asked, looking behind him.
"Lucky guess. Roxy told me you're late on picking Jade up. Turning into a bad kid already, hm?" Dirk snickered.
"Tsh. I forgot about the time! All of the awkward conversations amused me that much." Jake laughed.
"See you Monday or whatever, Jake." Dirk said, ending the phone call. I guess he didn't want to hear about the date full-on.

Dirk placed his hands on his head, lying nack on his bed. He swore he felt a tinge of jealously once Jake mentioned the date. Poor little English in a tuxedo with his little bowtie and fancy shoes, along with a most likely pearled up Jane with a beautiful dress. He was gonna fall for her anyway and would never notice Dirk like that. Why does Dirk want him to? Is it a weeb thing?
Dirk sighed loudly and irritatingly for the twentieth time, allowing his brother to finally enter the room.
"Can you shut up, bro; I don't wanna hear your whining because I'm tryna make some sick beats for Lalonde." Dave stated, looking Dirk in the eyes.
"I can't, man. My brain is so fucked up right now that it's makin' me feel jealous that Jake is going out with Jane even though I know he secretly doesn't want to date her."
"Jealous?" A smirk rose to the elder Strider's face. "Haha, you dork." With that, Dave closed Dirk's bedroom door with a slam, laughing as he went down the hallway.
Dirk grabbed his phone, going onto text messages and selecting Jane's name.
"He doesn't like you like that, Jane."
Dirk contemplated on sending it, resulting on his leaving the text there on the screen until the phone automatically turned itself off.
He soon fell asleep, being welcomed into an excitable dream like how Makoto would extend his hand out for Haruka to grab onto in that one gay swimming anime.
God, does Dirk love anime.
