Hey, guys! It's me, Jonathan, Tip-Giver, and tour guide! It's been a long tour, but the tour shall go on for quite a while longer, so I hope you brought some refreshments! This week I'll tell you:
HOW TO END A BOOK!
There are many ways to end a book! Some good. Some not so good. Of course, I'll tell you the good ways. It all depends on what you plan to do with your book, and your writing styles!
IF YOU'RE ENDING IT FOR GOOD:
Try to sum up almost everything that happened in the story. Answer all questions the reader may have. Tie up any loose ends. You can have an epic, climactic ending, or you can have a chill, relaxed ending, with the characters(s) settling into their old life.
One thing about that. You want to have some change. Some things have to be different in the end, then they were in the beginning. Otherwise, your book is just pointless.
You can use epilogues, if you don't plan to continue on in a series, to tie up any loose ends, and fast-forward to the future a little bit, in one quick chapter.
IF YOU'RE CONTINUING ON IN A SERIES:
If you want to continue on into a series, end with a big bang! Like a cliff-hanger, or something that just blows the reader's mind! Like, OMG!!! I CAN'T BELIVE THAT JUST HAPPENED!!! I CAN'T WAIT TO READ THE SEQUEL!!! An example:
Bob has been chasing this guy through the entire book. He finally catches the guy, but then finds out that the guy he was chasing isn't the guy he was looking for! Then, the actual guy comes and BOOM! You have to read the sequel!
Hope it helps! This has been another tip brought to you by Jonathan!
Got any questions? Need help? Just ask me, and I'll answer your question in here!
