When you start out, nobody knows you exist. Personally, I don't like to advertise, or promote myself or anything, really. Every single amazing Wattpadian started from the very bottom. Everyone, me, you, those big names, they all started from ground zero. I've sworn to never advertise a single one of my books, and I never have, and I've got half a million reads, so that just shows that it's hard work, not pestering people with advertising to do well. But, you're not me, so here's some tips and tricks.
Reading Lists: Adding stories to your reading list is a great way to start out. When you add someone's story to your reading list, people tend to go on your page to see who's adding their stories. Those stalker-type people actually go through people reading lists. Yep, great way to become intertwined into the Wattpad Universe.
Tags: Be sure to always tag your books. Nobody will be able to find it without tags. Just... Don't tag an epic fantasy novel with, ''onedirection,'' or anything...
Dedications: Dedicate chapters to other active Wattpadians. Most will check out what's being dedicated to them. People who go on their pages will check their dedications, and then see your story. It works, trust me.
Follows: Personally, I follow close friends or aquaintences only, because I'm a jerk. And then there's those who have hit their max. Following people is a great way to get deep into Wattpad, too.
Save The Dolphins: At the end of a chapter, end off with something like, ''Vote to save the dolphins!'' This will gain you votes and comments, because people will be like, ''I don't wanna be a dolphin killer!''
Appreciate Readers: When somebody votes, or comments on one of your stories, go say, ''Hey! Thanks for the vote/comment!'' Or, ''Thanks for the follow!'' It makes people happy!
Comments: Comment on books you like. Give compliments, or be helpful. And be honest.
Talking: The funnest way to get around, talk to people. Meet new people, talk to them, perhaps you'll make some new friends!
Updating: Of course, the easiest way to get reads is by updating your stories. People can't read your stuff, unless you give them something to read!
