Her Secret Father

Chapter 8- Seth

It was only as the sun was falling low in the sky that I made my way out of my old room. My eyes were puffy and bloodshot but I couldn't bring myself to care that someone I knew could see the mess that I had become. I kept my head down as I took what seemed like a walk of shame to the door and past the concerned faces of my brothers and father.

"Do you guys need me to give you a ride back to the restaurant to get your trucks?" I mumbled, knowing they would hear me.

"No, it is alright, Blair. I will drive them over there later. They are going to stay a little while later. You can go ahead and head home, Sweetie." dad softly replied, making his way over to say goodbye.

"Are you sure?" I whispered, as he pulled me into a tight embrace, resting his head on top of mine.

"I'm positive." he assured before stepping out of the embrace placing a loving kiss on the top of my head.

I nodded my head carefully, not wanting to bring my headache back to the surface. "Alright. Bye daddy, I love you. See you later, boys."

"Love you!" The three of them shouted, as I walked out the door into the crisp fall air.

"Love you too!" I replied, getting into my truck, hoping the ride home would go by fast.

As I pulled into my driveway, I couldn't help but let out a relieved sigh; I just wanted to go to sleep. I hadn't realized there was another vehicle in my driveway until I was halfway to the door. I let out a muffled yelp as I realized I had no clue whose car it was. I cautiously finished the walk to my door and slipped my key into the lock. Pushing the door open, I carefully stepped in to the hallway leading into my living room.

"Hello??"

The only answer I got was the sound of a bedroom door closing. I dropped my purse by the door and quickly jogged into the kitchen, and grabbed a chef's knife out of the top drawer by the sink.

"Who's there?" I shouted, cursing myself when I heard my voice shake.

I silently crept towards the door to my room, hearing the panicked shuffling on the other side of the door. I was starting to get freaked out as the possible scenarios that could happen began flying through my head. Before I could chicken out, I darted my hand forward and pushed the door open. It was as the door slammed into the wall that the intruder finally turned around. A gasp escaped my lips, only to be followed by a strangled scream.

"Shut the hell up, Blair!" Seth angrily said, stomping his way over to me and clamping a hand over my mouth, cutting off my fright-filled scream.

"What are you doing here?!" I yelled into his hand, panic filling my body.

"You wouldn't talk to me. I had to make you see my point somehow." he shrugged carelessly as if breaking into my house was an everyday thing.

I angrily swiped his hand away from my face before shouting at him in rage. "Why can't you just leave me the hell alone?! Get out of my house!"

"We need to talk!" he replied, his own anger coming to the surface.

"I don't want to talk to you!" I screamed, pushing him away as hard as I could making him stumble backwards before regaining his balance. "I hate you! You are a good for nothing-" I was cut off by the sound of my phone ringing in the front hall. I immediately saw a way to get him out of the house. Taking off toward where I dropped my purse, I could only hope it was someone who could help me calling.

"Hello?" I answered, my breath coming out in pants.

"Blair, are you okay?" Brayden's voice drifted through the phone, calming my senses.

"Do you think you could come over? I need help!" my voice was filled with panic and anger, even I could hear it.

"Get off the d*mn phone!!" Seth yelled as he stormed his way over to me, filling me with dread.

"Who the hell was that, Blair? Are you okay?" Brayden's concern was now joined with searing anger.

"Please come over." I begged through the phone, trying to calm my emotions.

Seth's angry face was frightening to say the least. I barely heard Brayden reply with an "I'm on my way." before my phone was ripped out of my hands and the call was ended. "Just fucking listen to me, damnit!" Seth's voice was no longer calm; it was filling with rage.

"Calm down, Seth. Please just calm down." I felt so weak pleading him to do something but I was too scared to do anything about it.

"Shut the hell up!" he roared, backhanding me so fast I didn't have time to move out of the way.

Whipping my head back towards him, my eyes filled with pain and rage. I took the two steps separating us and brought my fist up to punch him in the nose. Not yet satisfied when I heard the sickening crack telling me I had broken his nose, I brought my knee up to his stomach making a groan escape his lips.

"Do not ever hit me again, do you understand me?" I said, my voice coming out eerily calm.

He went to speak but was cut off by the sound of the door barging open, to reveal Brayden. "I'm sorry for not knocking." he apologized as he shuffled into the house.

His eyes darted around the room taking in everything before they landed on my rage filled face and Seth who had fallen to his knees in front of me groaning in pain. He looked back up at me in disbelief before seeing the red tinged mark on my right cheek. His face was contorted in anger as his jaw clenched. "Did this d*ck do that to your cheek?" Brayden hissed through his teeth, already knowing the answer to the question.

I nodded my head silently, my cheek starting to throb as I calmed down.

"She f*cking deserved it!" Seth growled, trying to bring himself to his feet while still holding his bleeding nose.

"Can I hit him?" Brayden pleaded, nodding his head towards Seth.

I shook my head, not wanting to cause anymore problems. "Can you just make him leave, please?"

Brayden once again looked a t me in disbelief before shaking his own head and grabbing Seth by the top of his bicep. "Let's go dumb a*s."

I couldn't help but turn my head as I watched Seth once again get dragged out of my house. I let out a relieved sigh and went into the kitchen to grab a dish cloth to clean up the blood that was in a small puddle on my tile floor.

When Brayden came back inside I was just getting up from cleaning up the blood. "Thank you." I mumbled, highly embarrassed that he had seen that.

"You're welcome. Would you like to tell me why I just had to drag him out of your house now?" I didn't miss the flash of concern and sympathy that flashed over his face before it settled into anger.

"Would I like to? No. Am I going to anyway? Yes." I grumbled before leading him into my living room and sitting on the couch. With my legs comfortably tucked under me, I finally looked into Brayden's eyes.

"Seth used to be my best friend..."
